Was anyone else here on this forum hunting when the '82-83 "El Nino" storms were hitting the CA coast? Any massive coin/target count stories? 
I only got in on the tail-end of that. Didn't really know how to read the swells, tides, etc... Didn't have a good machine, etc.... But some of the stories that came rolling into our club meetings were astounding. Beginners who stumbled onto thick cuts and got 6 or 10 gold rings on their first day of detecting. Other guys who exceeded 100 silver coins in a day, never moving from an area the size of your living room, etc... They ended up putting down their machine, and just eye-balling and random scooping into the pockets in bedrock. Any other out there remember those storms?
