I was hunting at a church I have hunted on several occasions and finding
the usual clad. The finds were slim with lots of foil trash.
crappy clad.webp
I finished on one side of the parking lot and moved to the other
and after 10 minutes of more foil signals I got a mid to high 80s signal
at 4". I figured it was a shredded can or if I was lucky a clad quarter.
Dug the plug and fished through it and now I am part of the large cent club!

After a brief happy dance (hehe) I just sat on the back of the Prius and gazed
at my find unbelieving. :o I have not dug anything older then a 1917 wheat
and was not prepared. I went over the area around it and did not turn up anything
else so must have been part of the fill. Man what a way to end a hunt that was
not going well. HH,

It's a rush when the first one pops out of the ground, huh? I bet the next one will be a rush too. I'm still waiting for my second one, but the first was exciting. I was hunting at night, and when I got it out of the ground and saw that head with the stars in my light from the flashlight, I knew what I had!

djabend, you found something cool, but you may yet find something cooler at that site.
:)

How old is the church? Hope there are more there for you, and its not just fill.

The church is from the 1970s or 80s but the land had buildings on it in a 1870s map. All I usually find there is clad from the 1970s to now. The problem is there was a river going between the 2 buildings that where there and they filled that in for the parking lot area with a very sandy dirt. They still have problems with it in the form of a sinkhole in the parking lot. I will be returning in the weeks to come to more carfully scan the area. HH,
Donny
