I was hunting at a church I have hunted on several occasions and finding
the usual clad. The finds were slim with lots of foil trash.

I finished on one side of the parking lot and moved to the other
and after 10 minutes of more foil signals I got a mid to high 80s signal
at 4". I figured it was a shredded can or if I was lucky a clad quarter.
Dug the plug and fished through it and now I am part of the large cent club!

After a brief happy dance (hehe) I just sat on the back of the Prius and gazed
at my find unbelieving. :o I have not dug anything older then a 1917 wheat
and was not prepared. I went over the area around it and did not turn up anything
else so must have been part of the fill. Man what a way to end a hunt that was
not going well. HH,
Donny

Congrats. That is one nice find. How old is the church? Hope there are more there for you, and its not just fill.

Way to go! I would LOVE to find something like that!

Wow, Fantastic, Welcome to the Large Cent Club!!!!

I think I would go back and look again, bet there are some other great coins to be found at that site!

I am including a picture of a 1836 Large Cent I found here in Ohio, about a month ago. It has a stamped hole in it. Guess maybe it was the year the guy was born.

Again, great finds.

Great job...goes to show you not to give up, cause you never know when you'll hit paydirt :)

Congrats on the Large cent!! Very nice, my oldest is 1827!

Welcome to the club...I joined last July with this 1836. I actually kissed the coin when it popped out of the plug! I didn't even know what type of coin I had found until I cleaned it later that day, but I knew it was big, it was heavy and it was coppper.

Congrats!!

Excellent Find and in nice condition too! I've said it before and I'll say it again, the biggest thrill of this hobby is when you pull sometime out of the ground that far exceeds your expectations. WTG!
