I have this opportunity to buy this pendant.
I think it looks like an Andalusite and what I have heard they are very, very rare, specially this size.

Of course it could be synthetic but it's set in 18K gold and well I'm not sure they make them synthetic.
The guy who's selling it says he doesn't know what stone it is. ;D

According to http://www.gemval.com a 8 ct stone of Andalusite of this size and cut etc. would be worth USD 1735.71.
But it is much bigger than 8 ct, as 8ct was the biggest they could estimate.

This stone is 20 x 12 mm. That would make a CT of at least 10 - 12.
The whole pendant is 30 x 20 mm.

So I wonder if anyone know if it would be a nice buy and if you think I should buy it ?? ;D (he wants about $100 for it)

... and how much it would be worth ???

Ok, thanks for the tip, how ever opals are not my favorite stone.
At least not "ordinary opals" I do like mexican fireopals, orange and yellow. ;D

I mostly buy on Swedish auctions otherwise ...
I also have a friend who sells very nice gems to me, specially high quality rubys. :D
