I found my first silver over the weekend. I took YOTE who is a fellow detector I met on here out to my spot over the weekend and he found an 1872 seated quarter and a silver knife at the old invisible homestead lol. We followed an old road behind the home site and that is where I found my silver button. I went back out today after work for an our on the old barely visible road and my first good signal was my first civil war bullet. I knew there had to be something from the civil war around my site, because there is a confederate training camp around a mile from there. I also found a mystery bullet about twenty feet from the civil war bullet and it is just as big and heavy. I have no info on silver buttons and would like to know if it could be tied to the civil war era and would also like to know what this mystery bullet could be? silver butt. 2.webpciv war 1.webpciv war 2.webpciv war 3.webpsilver butt..webp

One reason there aren't many real silver buttons around is that they stain clothing black. The few I have seen were gold plated (vermiel), so they did not transfer tarnish to the clothes.

I have found many of that exact type buttons in fields and oddly enought they ring VERY high on the etrac like 12-43 to 12-45 area.....makes you think your getting a coin for sure, none of mine have ever been silver. Sure wish they were all made of silver as many as I have dug

Buttons do that (but I know you know that with your experience!)
