Yesterday was a hard digging kind of day. The targets were plentiful and I got into a batch of bullet sinkers and just hunkered down. Here is a picture of my boat at the end of the day....

Next up is a shot of all of the hand made sinkers, less the ones made out of bullets...

P7210012.webp

And now the bullet sinkers. Notice the Prussian...

P7210001.webp

Here are some bullets that were mixed in....

P7210013.webp

Next up are a couple shoe buckles...

P7210017.webp

Here are a couple of lead sinkers that have some sort of writing on them. I haven't been able to figure out what they are yet. Any ideas?

P7210015.webp

And a "blow through" fired bullet

P7210019.webp

Here is a really well preserved carbine sling hook....

And the "rest of the stuff" that I lugged into the house last night when I got in. More cow bell!

P7210003.webp

One underwater shot of the algae that grows in all of the creeks up here. It's not too bad until it floats up and creates huge mats of rotting, stinking vegetation. Worse smelling stuff on the river. It will be around until fall. Pretty cool looking though...

Thanks for the comments on my other posts and reading this one!

The rock crevices are exactly where you want to check. If there is a lot of nails in them, you can just fan the debris and search without a metal detector. I do that all the time. BTW... I'm not going back to the same spot every day, I never do that. I always mix it up, don't want the fishermen getting too curious :laughing7:

Nice haul! What's the iron ball thing on top of the hatchet blade?

Well... I first thought it was another 12 pounder, but obviously with an eye in the top I was able to rule that out pretty quick. ::) I suppose it is some sort of weight/counter weight for something. :dontknow:
Thoughts are welcome...

Oh my God! When I finish the day with about 50 fishing sinkers I think I have dug my A$$ off.
But it looks like you dig 2X's that amout! :o
The thing about those sinkers (as I'm sure you know) is they give the same Mid tone on the CZ 20 & 21's as gold and brass (and bullets) so you have to dig them!
Keep it up man, you are on a big time roll!

I love the hand made ones. I'll even hunker down on modern ones if the concentration is thick enough. Quick question for anyone out there... :help: Is there any way to put a link to this post on my Facebook account so my buddies there can easily find it? :help: I have tried, but my knowledge of computer technology doesn't compare to my sinker finding capabilities. :laughing7:

Wow what a great way to get out and stay cool while relic hunting. I tried to get out the other day and think I was on the boarder of heat exhaustion.

Do you free dive or scuba there, or both?

Can't wait to see what else you dredge up. :icon_thumleft:

Wow, and you had room for yourself at the end of the day. I like those sinkers too. Shows someone really had their hands on the item. Keep posting...it all looks good!

I do both, but right now I'm just free diving and walking. I've been waiting to get my tanks back from annual certs. Seems to take forever...

Dude, you are on fire, makes me think I should detect the streams around my older sites. The round sinker with writing is a lead bag seal, if you look closely you might be able to figure out what was in the bag it sealed. Wonder if that big ball was a slave chain? Hh and congrats, Mike

Impressive finds!!

For the link, move your cursor to the address bar, at the top of this page.
Then, left click the mouse. This will "high-lite" the link. (Usually in dark blue.)
While it is "high-lited", RIGHT CLICK the mouse. When the little window opens,
choose COPY with the cursor and LEFT CLICK on it.

Now, go to your facebook page and wherever you want to put it, (wherever
you're allowed,) move your cursor there and right click. When the little window"
comes up, choose PASTE and LEFT CLICK. That should paste the link there.

The Sword Hanger is in great shape,I guess the water preserve's it a little better.Keep em' coming

You need to draw a treasure map to that area and then action it off. ;D I enjoy seeing your finds .Always some good saves.

Amazing! Ill bet some of the "non" bullet sinkers are actually made from bullets that were flattened so much you cant tell that what they were.

I found a similar ax head in a camp a number of years ago and after doing electrolysis on it you could see a manufacturers mark on it. Mine came from a supplier out of California that made stuff for the military and was CW period.

Holy cow...bell!!! I can't stop drooling. You find some awesome stuff!!
Is there anyway you could post a couple more pictures of the round button that is with the buckles? I posted a picture of a button I found ("I finally found a button") and it looks very similar.
Nice going

Here it is. Tice's book dates this manufacturing method from circa. 1760-1780. I couldn't find your post to compare. Bump it to the top if you want me to take a look at it. Thanks for the comments.

RJS... It's in line for electrolysis. I'll check it out real close. Thanks for the tip. Having looked at the rectangular sinkers again, I can see faint rings and cavities on the ends of quite a few. I think you are right!
