What's new

WTH 😳

No... Silver at 4500 is not going to happen.
But silver at over 100 is certain... and will be 100 by weekend... IMO of course.
🫣😂🤣 maybe today

Try to buy your groceries with a gold coin. Silver is much more practical because the specific value is much smaller.
That's what Goldbacks are for.

I might have seen them but I don’t always remember everything I read, no offense.. I’ve been seeing posts here saying silver is going to be the new gold… for a while, I don’t think silver will ever be $4500 an ounce but over $100 is certainly possible
Silver is the Poorman's GOLD.

Silver is getting scarce because it is a commody that is used up in manufacturing... Most Gold is saved.... Silver will continue to go up. Refiners only want 999 so they can flip it quickly for the demand. Sterling will eventually be refined and the percentage of spot will rise IMHO

Smalls like the sterling thimbles probably would be a resell over spot.
They would, but I don't really feel like messing with it. After ebay stopped holding buyers accountable I'd end up selling it to some picky person that found some little imperfections I failed to mention. Plus they might be worth pretty close in scrap at today's prices, which has scared away many collectors of old silver so much so, they no longer look anymore because they bid on something they like, only to have a silver junkie come snatched it up in the last half a second.

Well yes, and no. It is again a gold-backed currency like the dollar used to be only this time it caries the gold its backed with inside. Which is better than the funny money we have now for sure but still not the same as a coin.

Silver is better on the long term and not dependent on the trust of some company who claims the gold content inside is correct. (Just generally spoken nothing at all against the present producer). Less costly to coin to with that Goldback basically having an enormous coinage coast (more than 50% its metal content)

Btw - silver is the middle class's gold (not the poor man's that would be copper).

Agreed, but at the rate prices are going, it is going to be impractical to have either one in a small enough size for everyday transactions. 1/10 ounce of silver would be $9 at the moment. To get down to a dollar, you'd need a 1/100 ounce silver coin (or a 1/4000 ounce gold one). Those are going to be too small or too thin or both to be practical, unless you alloy them with some cheaper metal, but that puts you back in the same place as trusting the gold content of a goldback. (And no, having the government issue them wouldn't remove that concern. That's what got us into this mess.)

True - for small denominations silver would be still to valuable and either some alloy or other metal would be used. But those smaller denominations would not present an issue even they do not contain 100% their declared value as long as the silver coins do. Happened in the past as well.

I see the Goldback idea as useful in this regard for the smaller denominations but in its present form far to costly as a broad replacement for the fiat money. Anyway using alloy in smaller coins works in connection with a silver "dollar" and is much cheaper to produce.

As with our discussion above silver at $4500 would make it not useful as a fiat currency replacement. At the dollars current value that is! But if the dollar goes south then $4500 would be the least you could expect in the coming years.

The dollar is basically pegged on oil and as long the States can force the rest of the world to trade oil in dollars it will remain stable. But that power is eroding fast and if its gone then all that is left is an enormous deficit that will sink the dollar faster then the Titanic!

Over the past day it seems to averaging $91. There has been some talk on a correction at $95 which wouldn't be too outlandish.

Current 2026 forecasts generally fall into three tiers:
  • Bullish Case ($85–$100+): Organizations like Goldman Sachs and Citi see silver averaging $85–$100, citing "acute shortages" and the green energy transition.
  • Base Case ($70–$80): A common "conservative" view projects a floor at $70, with prices stabilizing as supply remains tight but momentum slows.
  • Bearish Case ($50–$65): Even traditional bears like Bank of America recently lifted their "low" projections to a floor of $50–$55,

Just remember that you can't eat silver, nor can it be made to fuel anything. If the buttons get pushed, it will be food, water and fuel.

Water isn't an issue if you live in the rural.
Food & fuel will be the most sought after commodity.
Someone will have it, and they're not going to give it away.
So fiat will probably be worthless, so what's the options.
As it has been Gold, Silver, PMs will have their place in commerce.
