What's new

WTH 😳

Water isn't an issue if you live in the rural.
Food & fuel will be the most sought after commodity.
Someone will have it, and they're not going to give it away.
So fiat will probably be worthless, so what's the options.
As it has been Gold, Silver, PMs will have their place in commerce.
Water is no issue in those countries that would be primary involved in wars and other form of social breakdown but in the poor countries that could survive because they never made themselves dependent on sophisticated infrastructure it is in many cases the most precious life sustaining commodity!

If you could store it as easy as gold I would advise to buy water before anything else! Which leaves gold and silver not because they are very useful but because they over thousands of years be proven the best universal medium of exchange where barter is not practical.

Toilet paper would be worth it's weight in gold.

Food, water, fuel, firearms and ammo.
TP was the commodity that disappeared off the shelves at the start of COVID

Once again the 3rd or developing countries just need a can of water.🤣

We're too dependent on the system even for the basic things.

Those of us who remember outhouses, newspapers, and mail order catalogs probably weren't too concerned.

LOL ! ! ! ....... Heh... i just spewed coffee.

Sheesh man... i did not know you were that old !! !

:P

I can see where that goes. Maybe the TPR as the final currency. Maybe start selling gold and silver futures in TPR. 1 of gold ounce for 10 TPR...

(Toilet Paper Rolls)

Jokes aside, there is too much concentration on goods but transportation is in most cases more important. Oil and water even food is abundant in some places while none existent in others. We don't worry about that bc of the global transportation infrastructure.

if that is gone then like in the case of water there is no fixed value in anything and then even a donkey becomes valuable beyond present imagination.

Rags and a diaper pail. Remember? That was how the work got done before it switched over to 'the jobs not over until the paperwork is done.'

The place I type from today had a 3 seater behind the house and a two seater behind the barn back when I was young. Actually 'holes' not seats, each shack had a non rimmed hole. Modern plumbing calls them urinals. Even then they tried to avoid spraying the seat . But I gotta wonder what guys didn't just whip it out anywhere ? I do that even now. At one time there was like 13 kids living here. In the 70's I met one of them who was elderly at the time. 2 shallow graves out back. There is now a septic mound over that area.

Talk about burial mounds! Circle of life I suppose.

Best story I have is one day my dad was in there in and came out screaming at half mast as he had apparently upset some bees who were building a home in there. We were all rolling on the ground laughing which he didn't appreciate.

During covid the stores were out of paper towels. Then I recalled seeing disposable paper shop towels at Autozone. I headed up there and sure enough they had plenty of those. I found you can even put them in the washing machine and they hold up really well through that, so I made those last. That turned out to be a good option, because it wasn't long after that others discovered the alternative source of paper towels. Today as everything is back to normal I and everyone else can express their rights to be wasteful again 🙂 Now that's freedom.

Only bad part of using shop towels is they are not good for your system leading to severe clogs in your home's pipes, septic system, or city sewer lines, requiring expensive repairs.

I have used them but instead of flushing put them in plastic bags and threw them away.

I would toss the wornout ones in our recycled bin. I live Boulder county Colorado and I have 3 trash bins. Landfill, Compost and Recycle for all the empty Amazon boxes mama receives along with all the paper that passes the crush test, steel and aluminum cans and plastic marked with certain numbers.

We still use an outhouse here off grid. No plumbing for miles.

I see Goldbacks as a shtf asset or like art. Not practical as a gold savings or stacking asset. Pretty much a step above the 90% junk coins for barter and trade. You eat the premium for the actual gold value when they are needed. I've got maybe a couple hundred Goldbacks now in denominations of 1/2 to 10, mostly 1/2's and 5's. I don't see the need for the higher denominations as real gold coins, with much lower premiums would fill that role.

I can't thank the makers of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies enough for instilling in my childhood mind the romantic idea of collecting and hoarding treasure for no other purpose than the act of possessing it. Turns out, it was the most important financial advice I ever recieved.

Back when I was in the Army and had my tour in Veit Nam , we had a 10 holer and we also had 2 of them ! Once a day a assigned person would pull out the cut in half 55 gallon barrels and burn the waste with diesel fuel and paper ! I have a picture of this across our camp from on top of a bunker ! It looked like a war zone with all that nasty smoke !

There are pooping techniques which require minimal, to no wiping at all !!... Think i would learn how to poop cleaner , rather than invest heavily in paper..

While I'm aware of those techniques, they are fallible, and such complications are truly challenging
for the unprepared, especially those desiring to have the company of the more fair sex.

To get back to the original topic, can we say that silver is the toilet paper of metal?

Some people stockpile it for no clear reasons, just because others stockpile it too, when in reality the need for it is really low. 😂
