Your Occupation If You Lived In The 1800s

Re: Your Occupation If You Lived In The 1800's

I have thought of this many times. I would want to have been an Explorer.
Since I can remember, I have always wondered what was over that next hill
or mountain. So I always went over to find out, as long as I could get home
before sundown. My mother would get quite upset with me if I didn't.
We built homemade boats and floated down the rivers, and climbed the highest
mountains. I always felt like I was the first person to set foot at these places.
When I got a little older, I would take my 22 cal. rifle, a little snack and go all day
to new areas.
The next step was when I got my driver's license. I would travel every back road
that I could find. I discovered so many things out there, that I never knew existed.
Today I am to busy working to pay the bills, to enjoy life.
It sure was fun, and no worries of all the problems in the world like nowdays.

Happy Trails to all of you,
Clayton

I'd no doubt be a Barney Fife type small town lawman or hopefully a deputy marshall. But the bad part is I'd be dead now! Monty

I have always, since a young bloke, been fascinated by the adventures of,

If I was living in those times I would probably have wanted to be a Good Mate of his 8)

Hah! One of my favourite quotes: "Sure I'm drunk! That's why I'm tellin' the truth. I'm drunk and I'll say what I think. I'll say what I know!" - Gabby Hayes - 1944. (from Tall In The Saddle).

So far it looks like no one wants to be an outhouse tipper. Where's the ambition?

Hey Butch, you gonna sing the rest of that song?

Bets were covered....

Well other than riding with Jesse James marking ALL the gold locations and other treasures, I guess I would make sure in some way shape or form to MAKE SURE the South WON the war, then maybe we wouldn't have the B.S. of todays nightmares!

But, in reality, I would own a bar, 50 working women ;D, a gold mine, ;D and a gunsmith shop making firearms!

On my way,darlin'.
Since my family ran the Sante fe Trail, including indian fights and were Very friendly with the James/Younger boys, guess I would start as a Plainsman and then a MO Partisan Ranger.
