Sides, this is going to be a challenge to prove the provenance of your father’s find. Definitely important if you are looking to sell or display it in a museum sometime in the future. We saw a similar challenge last August when a member showed what they believe to be a decorative buckle owned by George Washington. You might want to reach out to the member to see what experts they are consulting with to establish the provenance of their buckle. The link to the post is below. Good luck with your hunt. Walt

Yeah they would have to be some sort of treasure hunter or history buff... or even a metal detectorist to "collect bullets"...

:P

:)

I hope everyone realizes I was being sarcastic.

You can usually tell when I am by the ":P".

:)

This post was in response to another.

Because I’d love to see this resolved...we just don’t know what the bottom looks like.

I think it could be some sort of pointer as mentioned above. The lines could represent a stream or trail. Was this item found near water or old hose trails? The circles with the dots could represent something. IDK what in that case. The 3 also looks like 2 horse shoes to me. Maybe that means find a trail of horse shoes. Just throwing it out there. In thirty two years I have never seen anything like that.

I may as well throw my guess in. Somebody made a fake James brothers treasure "gold" bar just for fun or to fool someone.

Personally, I think somebody was just bored crazy, and decided to make this to fill the time.

I think his dad was a member here and may have posted it before gifting it to his son.

We just need a picture of the bottom side opposite the Christmas tree design. There we can see if it was made in China or Taiwan :-) Alright, alright, calm down, just a bit of levity...

This pic is the side opposite the names. The top side is shown twice in those photo's, we still don't have the side directly opposite the Christmas Tree.
