Evening everyone. Just wanted to share this with you. One of my pickup banks called yesterday and told me that they had a partial bag of halves off the machine. I called them today to confirm and they said that they would hold onto them for me. This is only my 2nd bag and I was anxious to buy it.
After work, i stopped to pick up my usual halve box along with $295.00 in bagged halves. They told me that they already sorted them out but there were still a few foreign coins in there. If there was any discrepancy to please let them know so they could reimburse me. I told her that it was ok if it was off a little as I collect the foreign coins as well. I thanked her again and left.
I assumed that they pulled all the silver but you know what they say about assumptions. There was a nice handful of silver coins in there, mostly 40%ers, but a few 90%ers as well. Now for the good stuff.
I'm going thru the coins a handful at a time. The 1st good silver foreign coin was a 1939 2 Shillings. Then i saw a coin that i never would have dreamed of being in there. A beautiful 1855 large cent! Before i finished the last handful, 2 more large cents would show up(1 good, 1 bad and 1 just plain ugly)The dates were a nice 1855, a bent 1852, and an unreadable date. I also see a thin black coin in the middle of another handful and it ends up being my oldest CRHing find to date, a well worn 1816 Spanish 4 Reales!
I hope you enjoyed the read. HH everyone, MM2
