2015: Hunting Is a Harsh Mistress

Picked up three boxes of halves over the weekend, skunked on all three.

Picked up a box of halves + $2 in loose halves today on my lunch break, loose halves were all keepers:

1964
1967 x 3



Will search the box of halves tonight.

Picked up a box of halves and a box of dimes yesterday, didn't get around to searching them until this morning.

The box of halves was a skunk, but the box of dimes gave up NINE Roosies:

1946S
1954
1959
1960
1964 x 2
1964D x 3

All three of the 1964Ds were reverse enders, and the two with no mint mark came from one of the ender rolls!

Dumped the halves from earlier and picked up two more boxes of dimes.

The first box of dimes gave up four Roosies:

1950
1964 x 2
1964D

The second box gave up two keepers:

1942 Mercury
1964 Roosie

Killed it with dimes this weekend!

Quick question how much longer will coin roll hunting be effective? A couple more years or what? I know it's hard to say but I just got into it last week I hope I'm not too late!

I think we've got quite a while left to hunt. The mint is still producing silver proof sets, people are still stealing other people's coins and dumping them into circulation, older collectors die and their collections get dumped into circulation by unknowing or uncaring relatives, etc.

It will always be at least at the level it's at now, unless they do away with coins completely. You missed out on the heyday of searching though. Ah the good old days, I sure miss them!

I think banks could decide to shut down our half boxes if they collectively decide it's hitting them too hard for no gain. I guess the coin processing companies could collectively start culling silver from all denominations and reduce us to just CWR hunters.

Just keep rolling while we can.

The dimes gave up four keepers, two Mercs and two Roosies:

Another box of halves and another box of dimes today. The dimes gave up one Roosie: 1956.

The box of halves gave up 29 40%ers!!!

Very nice find wish I could get that much in a box. Quick question guys! What are the best phrases to say when in a bank? I start off my asking for "older coin or currency in general" after I ask for "large dollar coins" and then end it by trying to get some "rolls of halves or dimes." Am I missing anything I should be asking?

I would have loved to see Chris Farley stick around long enough to maybe do some serious roles, I think he had the talent to be able to develop himself further as an actor.
