Hello Everyone,

It was a terrific day for me today with the oldies. I was pulling silver/wheaties from the turf as if they were clad coinage. I met Mike(ratman) and Curt(Bibleman) at a park in the Valley today. It was hot outside, but I really didn't feel it. The silver kept coming out along with about 30 wheaties. This was from a park I had only found 3 silver coins prior. By 10 in the morning, I had 6 silvers, and I just knew it was going to be a great day for me. I left the park at around 2:30 with 11 silvers (5 mercs (oldest was a '20s), 1 '45 Washington, 5 rosies). I then met a couple other hunting buddies at a park where I managed a 53 Rosie on my last dig before walking back to my car.

It doesn't get any better than this for the silver at a heavily hunted park. I think I will go back tomorrow and see if I left any.

With the wheat cents I dug today, I now have over 2000 for the year (2nd pic; that's almost 2 large peanut jars full!!) That's a 4.5 wheatie per silver coin average.

Thanks for looking,
CAPTN SE
Dan

Thats a whole lot of silver!! Congrats!! 2000 wheats is a huge amount as well, are most in the 40's-50's?

I am speechless. That is a superb day. Your silver and wheat counts are insanely great. Hope you continue your great success, thats just plain amazing.

All I can say is WOW! You have been an inspiration to me lately posting those great coins. I'm gonna get out and try to beat you this weekend! At what depth do you find your silver in those CA parks? Most of the deep silver in my parks here is below 7 inches and hits from only one direction or sometimes makes that stange rubbing/silver sound on the EXII. Very time consuming to find old silver in the parks here. GOOD STUFF!

Thanks Jack!!! I really couldn't tell you the average dates of the wheats, but yes I would have to assume many were in the 40's/50's. My least favorite penny besides the zincs(of course) is the '59 memorial. It's such a let down finding them. But the good thing is, there is silver close by.

Thanks, rebelLT!!! Silver here in CA parks averages 6-8". Although I found a park in the past couple of days where the silver is averaging 3-4". I'm not complaining... ;D Along with the wheaties, I have dug so many deep plugs so far this year. My right hand is permanently callused. ;D Many silvers only hit in one direction over here also.

Thanks, Postalrevnant!!! My fellow detecting buds on a CA forum I'm a member of are having a guessing game for prizes. They're guessing how many silver I will find by the year's end. Here's their guesses. I'm knocking off each person, one at a time.... ;D

I'm in the bleachers cheering you on!

Go Go GO!

Silver coins have always been a challenge for me, but you've inspired me and now I'm finding them too!

Keep crossing off those names! :D

Congratulations on a stellar silver-hunted-out-park day!

Killer coin count for the year man!

It's gotta be great marking off each guy guess as you surpass their expectations ;D

Talk about motivation!

You've found more silver in one day then I've found in just over two months ::)

I'm jealous to say the least... I see a deep seekin' Explorer in my future :)

Happy silver hunting,

A day finding some Wheats is a day worth mentioning. :-X :D

Oh, and a day with wilver is worth a forum post! :D :-* :P :o :-* :-* :-* :) :D

Cap. K, you are kicking some royal but-tocks over in CA. I have to ask you, where are the Barber coins? I'm just curious why you don't find many of them.

Sweet hunt Dan. I had a nice hunt as well but I was popping out indian heads instead of silver. 5 Indian heads and 8 wheaties PRE 1919...and NO Barbers??? Oh well. Nice load of silver for you.

:D Dan, congrats on the 12 silver day
would be hard to beat around here! PM me and tell me what park out in the Vally your hunting now. HH and keep that silver coming.

Kirk, the barbers are quite rare down here in S. CA....The oldest parks down here are just the turn of the century (1900s), but most of them were from around the 30's-50's. One park this year produced 1 barber half, 3 barb. quarters, 5 barb dimes...that was one of the older ones. So much residential/business buildup in S. CA...There's very little areas still intact from the early 1900s, unless you're able to hit an old demo area.

My parks around here go back to the 1880s. I bet you would love to hit one of the parks in my town. I hit it last year for a bit and found an 1875-S Seated dime at 4" in a hard hit area. I also found 3 IHs in the park at a depth of 3.5". There still is some deep coins, so if I want to screw around on a weekday, I will hit it for an hour or two.

Man oh man. Two thousand WHEATS and oodles of silver. You DESERVE bragging rights! Not just having a heck of a day but one hell of a year!

Great job. I am looking forward to our year end totals for sure.

AMAZED
