Hello Everyone,

It was a terrific day for me today with the oldies. I was pulling silver/wheaties from the turf as if they were clad coinage. I met Mike(ratman) and Curt(Bibleman) at a park in the Valley today. It was hot outside, but I really didn't feel it. The silver kept coming out along with about 30 wheaties. This was from a park I had only found 3 silver coins prior. By 10 in the morning, I had 6 silvers, and I just knew it was going to be a great day for me. I left the park at around 2:30 with 11 silvers (5 mercs (oldest was a '20s), 1 '45 Washington, 5 rosies). I then met a couple other hunting buddies at a park where I managed a 53 Rosie on my last dig before walking back to my car.

It doesn't get any better than this for the silver at a heavily hunted park. I think I will go back tomorrow and see if I left any.

With the wheat cents I dug today, I now have over 2000 for the year (2nd pic; that's almost 2 large peanut jars full!!) That's a 4.5 wheatie per silver coin average.

Thanks for looking,
CAPTN SE
Dan

Wow, you are killer on that silver! That's a lot of great coins you've managed to find. Keep it up, and may your silver streak never end.

Big Dan, post what you have found in clad this year. I bet it is over $800! By the way, bud, is this your 1st year in the hobby? If not, what did you find last year, bud?

Kirk, I don't post my clad, but you're right...a little over $800. This is my first year with the SE. Since this year, I hadn't been previously detecting for about 10 years. I got out of the hobby for a while. Different priorities in life. Before that time, I was swinging a Whites (6000 di pro sl) and finding lots of clad with the occasional silver and wheats. Lots of rings/jewelry too. The reason I got back into the hobby this year is that I was on medical leave from work, and needed a way to strengthen my body again......I'm so glad I got back into it this year; met some great md'ing buds in my area and on the forums, and have been pounding the turf since Jan. Never knew there was so much silver/wheats still in the parks around here. I never knew until I bought the SE.

Mastereagle, let me know as soon as you find your first silver....I want to share in the excitement with you....I never tire from pulling a silver from the ground.

Some nice silver.

WTG... i think i need to take a trip so you can teach me how to figure my SE out.. lol.. i finally got the pinpointing thing down, i can recognize the sound of a dime ( when it is a repeatable signal )... still dont know why the thing sings and chirps everytime i swing it.. i mean i know there are targets... but there are so many heard with iron mask on 1/3, and so many high conductivity with either high ferous or mid ferous i never know what to dig.. in addition when there is alot of stuff in the area ( ie trash signals ) i cant pinpont at all..

It seems the SE chimes in on a target when the right side of the coil passes over it, and then again when the center of the coil passes over it.. .

great finds captn ! congrats on the silver and the many many wheats ;)

Hi:

Your silver looks like california silver??? I hunted a park in El Centro that produced silver like yours . The avg. depth was 5 to 6 inches and was hard diggin. You get better depth when the soil is dry.

Les

Congrats on the wonderful day Captn and on getting the 2000th.
That's a lot of diggin man, WTG!!! Thanks for sharing.

Smiles!

I believe you get much much better depth when the soil is wet, and more conductive..

You do get better depth in neutral soil when moist, but when the ground is mineralized it is better when dry. I have a site I can only find coin when it is very dry. All finds are 6-7-8 inches. When it is wet, you can't get a peep.
