1787 Connecticut Copper,1798 Large Cent. Bullet and More

Hello All,

All I got to say is thank God the rain held off. Went back to the old farm house and had a good day of digging. Coin wise I dug another 1798 Large Cent in rough shape. I also dug a 1787 Connecticut Copper not to far from the Large cent. Also dug a bullet don't know anything about it age or what it is. Got a couple nice plain buttons with backmarks.
A couple of birds also came out of the ground too, they are pretty cool. Also dug a few whats it that I will have to put on the whats it forum when I get a chance. Overall a fun day of digging. Thanks for looking.

I think I have the variety of your Conn nailed down, not an easy one despite the great condition. With coinfacts.com Colonial section no longer available I wanted to try and ID the variety by using a new book I ordered two weeks ago and it just arrived today.

Using the book "Whitman Encyclopedia of Colonial and Early American Coins" by Q David Bowers I was able to find a match. I really liked coinfacts for the photos a lot better but the book has good descriptions telling what details to look for, and if the symbols on the coin are good enough to see, then IDing the variety becomes a bit easier. Conn coppers are a challenge, that is for sure.

Your coin is a 1787 Connecticut M33.9-s2 variety, Rarity 2 (common) but have noticed that if not corroded too badly the value could be three digits.
