Today I had a great find, I eyeballed this field a couple of weeks ago and today I hunted it.
Was supposed to hunt with a friend today but he couldn't make it so I had to go it alone. I
was told by a friend over the years they held alot of sporting avents in this field, so of corse
I got excited, I bet I hunted for atleast an hour before I dug up a penny, ten minutes later
got a dime, also found some junk, but alot less than I thought I'd find.Twoards the end of my
hunt I was near where I started, but alittle to one side and bam I get my best signle of the
day 82 on my DFX I dig it up only two inches down, I look and see its a big penny and right
away I hope for an older one, without my cheaters I couldn't see it clearly so I licked my finger
and rubbed it a little and see the sliowet of the capped busted head and 1801, what a find
my best large cent in 15 years of hunting. Just yesterday I quoted on a post about hopeing to
find one and now I own one finally. Hope to find gold tomorrow ha ha.sorry about the pic, I don't have a good camra. IMG_0390.webpIMG_0390.webpIMG_0390.webp

Very nice copper. Congrats

You made a nice coin find there Leprechaun! Love those busted ladies!

Sweet way to pick a spot.

Good oldies & at least you have the date!

Congrats, and get that thing checked out. If it is an 1804 as it appears in your picture it would be an even better find than the 1801.

Thanks for the replys guys and galls in the pic it doe's look like a 1804 but i asure you its an 1801, my camra stinks ist a cannon power shot from years ago, Just happy to have found such an old coin.

Lep Great score! Can't wait to hit that spot in the fall/winter with you!!!!:tongue3:

That's a good find and if one was lost in that field, that means "they" were there back "then". Keep looking in that area and you may find more from the same period!

Looks to be an 1804 awsome find.... love those largies........just think that coin was well over a 150 or so years old before we were born..... wow... great hunting.... I'd take any 208 year old coin anyday... no matter what condition....... oh I'm just waiting for a call from you with the invite....:)

Great find, That's one still on my wish list.
