My daughter went with me on Monday for a hike and to look for more foundations in the woods I got permission to hunt this winter. I showed her the one foundation I found this past Saturday where I got the Flying Eagle and other Large Cent along with buttons. Anyways we took our hike up the mountain and after about 20 minutes we came upon another foundation, so at the point two of our three goals were met. We found another foundation and got plenty of exercise. At that point I could tell my daughter was getting ready to go back home. I said to her what would top the day off if we could get one good find and then said we can stop at the first foundation and hunt for a little bit before we went home. I didn't need to swing the detector more then five minutes and I got a very quite deep signal. I dug down about 8 inches under a big root and the 1835 Large Cent popped out. It was on edge so that was why it was not to loud of a signal. We looked at the coin and could tell it had some nice detail under the coin. When we got back home I knocked the loose dirt off the coin and when I saw the reverse I could not believe what it was saying. To make sure I wasn't going crazy I sent an email to Don in Jersey and replied that it was a practice that they did back in the day with a knife he thinks. Well here it is and I guess I can mark that off the list of coins to find. Thanks for reading and looking.
