I have been hunting a old colonial site hard for the past week and have dug over 30 coppers ranging from KGII to Large Cents and numerous buttons but have yet to pull a silver until today. I dug a 1852 silver 3 cent piece. You never appreciate how small they are until you actually dig one half the size of a penny and a 1/4 of the thickness. Hopefully I can get some bigger one in the spot soon I know there has to be more old silver with all the coppers and buttons i'm pulling.

Wow, your trime has great detail. That had to be lost the same day it was minted. I found my first three weeks ago. Congrats on your super small coin. It is the smallest coin that was minted in the U.S.A. Arty

I would love to find one of those! Four half dimes, no threebies. Congrats on a very nice find!

Nice 3 center. Sure would be easy to loose one 150 years ago wouldnt it?

Great Coin!
these are one of my favorites,
seems they were often lost cause of the small size.
got 3 so far, nothing as nice as this.
whether cause of their small size or lower silver content they do ring a low tone.
congrats

Once again I was privileged to see this one found, right in front of me. He got a faint signal and dug. I never realized just how small and thin this coin is. But the detail was great. We both hunted the spot before and had to be close. I have to admit I just missed it and he did not. I did get two large cents, a little consolation for the day.
