1853 GOLD $1

Still at the site but wanted to share another amazing recovery. Swinging my new Nokta Legend for about an hour where I got the 1852 gold $1 a few weeks ago and was finding absolutely nothing but a few bits of trash. Did a pass close to where I think the structure was and I got a real scratchy 24-26 and saw this. Unbelievable

I bought my first metal detector in 1985 and since that time I have never found or seen someone find a gold coin.

Also—where there are two, there could VERY easily be more! And hats off to you on a PERFECT recovery and rinse of that coin. Literally ZERO hairline scratches commonly seen from improper gold coin recoveries posted on forums. Congrats again!

Thanks. Its probably the best condition of the four that I have found. At least asgood as the 1853 O I found in the river. The other two field dug ones have more scratches/rim damage but they all have little to no circulation wear

That is gorgeous. I can't imagine finding something like that. To date my biggest find is half a lead ingot that was buried about a foot down.

Thanks. Its all about location. Ive found nearly as many gold coins as gold rings. I just dont find/hunt many more modern spots
