Hello everybody. Been doing research on a old fairground I found on a local plat map from 1915-1919. Used to be a 1/2 mile horse race track there and the county fairs were held there. I was given permission to hunt there about 7 acres cleared and maintained. me and a buddy are going there tomorrow morning. I know there is old silver there, a guy from the local historical society was detecting there twice this summer and found a couple of seated dimes, barber dimes, and v shield nickels also a 3 cent coin. So that's where I'll be over the weekend. I did find a 1968 coke bottle on the property and also a silver broach in a bag some homeless person left the bag there. Will post what I find.Well HH everybody.

Hope so Digger and Thanks.

Good luck. Those old fairgrounds can be loaded with a variety of old coins. Have one near me i have been working for the last4 yrs. It was in use from the 1860's to the early 1900's. Have pulled over 40 coins out of it including seated's, two-cent pieces, half dimes, 3-cent piece, and indians. Just wish the would turn the ground over. Even if it's been hit hard before don't get discouraged, there always seems to be a few missed ones.

Thanks mike. from what I've been told from the director of the place is I'm the 2nd person to ask to detect there. So I hope it's still virgin. me and a buddy are going tomorrow. using a etrac and f2. Will post finds. HH

super cool bottle and locket

That bottle is a commerative. From the straight Sided ones.. Made off and on from the 60's - 70's. Was it on the surface or what?

Sounds like it should b good huntin. The other hunter has had a good time for sure. Good luck, keep us posted. HH

The bottle was a surface find near the old gate house in the fairgrounds. Went today for a 6.5 hr hunt, my friend with the Etrac found a 1930 merc and a 1947 merc. 1911 wheatie. 9 clad quarters. I found 88 cents in clad and a 1919 wheatie. Going back tomorrow and hit some other places in there. I know there is silver still in there. HH

looks like a nice locket. congrats

Thanks Debby!! Going to the fairgrounds again this week. Too cold the last few days. HH
