I have tried to make this post last night but had a lot of trouble.... So here goes again. I sent the 1901 s barber quarter off to anacs to get it autheticated, and it came back yesterday. Its real...Geniuine..I was so relieved, i had had three coins gurus look at it and they all believed it to be real except one guy was sceptical of the mint mark on the back he believed it was a little flat looking. The coin has been quite a find for me. I am entering it in Treasure EW best finds for 2007, and hopefully it will make it. Whites electronics is going to post an article in there product catalog, and they sent me a gift certificate for $100 Super nice of them. And the Barber Quarters Collectors Society is going to publish a small "blurb" in their yearly journal. WOW......

Ive been backl to the location where i found the coin and have pulled 9 more silver coins out of their since. A washington quarter (1947) a 1917 p mercury dime 9" down...and a 1966 40% silver half, the other were all silver dimes late mercs and rosies.... I cant wait to get back for the spring and hit that place with some decent weather on my side. My dad(ilseeker) went with me a couple of times and he pulled a 43 washington quarter out of there. Its going to be a good spot.... Im going to try to post a pic of the 1901 s quarter in the anacs holder, they did hit for cleaning, but that was to be expected.....

Fantastic find, DF. Congratulations.

That is an amazing find indeed!

If it were me, I'd have a professional photograph it and then frame the picture on my wall. Then I'd put it up for sale and pocket all that cash! LOL

What can I say? Simply an amazing (and very valuable) coin. The find of a lifetime. It looks great slabbed. That's $65 well spent.

Hey dimefinder, time for a name change! That is truely a once in a lifetime find, cash in the pocket is always nice but as stated before that could be quite a nest egg for retirement as the value is just going to increase as the years go by.Every dug coin I've ever seen graded has come back tagged as cleaned, even if they were only rinsed with water and never scrubbed.I think it has something to do with all the microscopic scratches that occur as the coin sinks into the dirt.Still a great find and I wish you many more,HH Bootstrap
