303 Year old Silver!! *UPDATED Pics

Man what a day. Decided to go out after work for a few hours to pound some fields i've been detecting for a while now. Decided to concentrate on the perimeters of the fields and wound up hitting pay dirt with my first ever spanish silver AND my oldest coin all at once. I though it was a gaming token (I didn't find anything else all day). It was an honest 10+ inches down but the explorer sniffer her out real good. Still can't believe Im holding something thats 303 years old. Colonial silver at its best! Man this thing is a beaut. Thanks for looking!

Wow, that's one old piece of silver. Congratulations on an outstanding find. I was unaware that there was an earlier "pretender" Carolus III, thanks umrgolf. This is another example highlighting the collective expertise of this forum. I have learned a lot just by following these threads.

Jim what did I say to You I like those trees, and also said you would be next. I love that coin I have the 1721 pistareen. But like yours I vote banner all the way. Soon as my camera back up will post my stuff from field too, I wish 1 of my 10 coppers that came from there looked like that. Congrats buddy lets keep it up we have a great bunch of guys here. What words could I use to describe your find? Incredible! Like one of the others said, "we don't even have dirt that old around here" describes our neighborhood rather well. It's difficult to find anything older than my last bottle of after shave around here!

You are having a year to remember, Jim. Thank you for sharing this find with the forum. It is an unbelievable recovery. My oldest Spanish silver is 1746, so I am hoping for something to top that.

I would think any 300 plus year old silver coin found in this country should be a banner find, plus it's in pretty damn good shape too....awsome find. I would have soiled ones self if I found that.
