3rd Annual Treasure Hunters Cookout

A BIG THANK YOU!!!!! To the hosts, John and his lovely wife for their hospitality!! Had a great time meeting and talking with everyone! Now I can put some faces together with the names here on TNET. What an outstanding group of people all! Just had a blast, learned alot and enjoyed the stories, ideas and history (and maybe a few lies Heh Heh (just kidding)) didn't meet a single scallywag at the cookout. Great people, food and comraderie! Can't wait to enjoy your company again next year!

Hey Everyboooooooody!
I'm back at work for a rest.
It was fantastic to see all of you at the cookout. I tried to talk to everyone at least a little, but I missed a few. I gotta tell you all I didn't pull this one off by myself. I had a LOT of help.
Jeff Priest brought a ton of beer. Dave Lafluer brought a keg. SteveMc brought the sodas, Fla-Gal took care of the Plasticware, plates, napkins, name tags, beans, trash cans, extra tables and more... Les Savege brought a bunch of chairs and tables, A lot of you brought side dishes, desserts, cookies, booze, presents and ice more. There was so much stuff arriving so fast that I couldn't keep track of it all. Somebody kept setting out a donations jar that kept reappearing every time I tried to hide it! LOL. Thanks. I really appreciated the raffle too. That was so generous of you guys. Whitefeather, you and Dell know what you did and it was appreciated. The watermelons by MadMike, Tea by Bonnie and Mama Jo, Gumbo by Deepsix47, the list goes on. Wreckdiver, thanks for the wonderful gift from Guatemala. I know I'm not covering everybody but the booze over the weekend has messed up my brain cells some!!! I'll be talking to many of you soon.
John

Great job aquanut (and friends). Looks like a h3ll of a party!

It was a HOOT! Thanks again Aquanut!

Had a great time John, thanks for the invite, looking forward to next year!

John, Great Weekend. I enjoyed meeting all the old timers and finally meeting Cornelius. The only thing that could improve the next one is trying to get the younger generation more involved in this Pirate Picnic. Thanks for everything John :hello: :newbie:

Old Man, I am one of the younger generation(Kind of). So you and Cornelius need to tell me everything you know. :laughing7:

Jeff, I can't even remember where I left my car keys my memory is so bad. I don't know anything about treasure hunting other then the BS I tell at picnics. But next time I see you, I'll draw you a map of where all those silver bars are down south. That is if I remember where I put my pen.

Disneyland at Les Savages home
The three yards that make part of Les Savages home site are just like Disneyland for Salvagers , treasure divers and contractors . I have never seen so many parts and equipment as in these three yards . Les took me and John Redman out into these yards by golf -cart . There was a mother - ship ( base ) for treasure operations , compressors . pontoons . dive boats , pontoons , aluminum barges , one even with a U shaped connector to two aluminum narrow barges which was unique for lifting heavy loads , suction dredges , hookah rigs , too much to mention even . I have seen quite some equipment in my life but never as much as in the yards of Les Salvage . It is a dream for us treasure divers ( and contractors ) . If you have a need for something , go and see Les . He has got everything you may need . And tell him Cornelius sent you !!. Cornelius . PS dont forget to ask Les about his pneumatic tools to work underwater

I as usual , had a great time --enjoyed meeting and chatting with folks --sharing my ideals on the "rough" location of the 2 "missing" original 1715 fleet vessels as of yet unaccounted for ( the french prize vessel known as "el ciervo" (the stag) and the tobbacco hauling nao class vessel "San Miguel" both from Echeverz's fleet.)-- via some clues found on a old dutch map *

I also enjoyed explaining why the barcolonga * sunk in nassau sound was carrying 1715 fleet artifacts even though she was not a "original" 1715 fleet vessel -- (she was a special "salvage" vessel sent from havana to the 1715 fleet wrecksites to recover VIP'S and treasure from the wrecked fleet and was on her way back to spain when she wrecked in nassau sound --near amelia island . :icon_thumright:)-- the detailed facts of the vessel in nassau sound are CLEARLY spelled out in a PS at the end of a letter dated Oct 24th, 1715 from english govenor of virginia , (alexander spotswood) to the british hone sec. (lord stanhope) . --it is worth noting that via his intelligence network govener spotswood was the same fellow that sent Lt Maynard to kill Blackbeard (the pirate) --spotswood had a very good seafaring intelligence network. :icon_thumright:

May I close this thread by thanking John and Debby for putting up with me for 14 days . I also want to thank all you guys ( and Girls ) for being so nice to me . I had a wonderfull time at the cookout and hope to be there the next time . I think though that we should not ask John to put up with all of this again . Maybe we should think of a different location this time . Thanks particularly to Jeff Priest for having both of us at his home at Crystal River . I was impressed Jeff . I hope that you and Ellen will have a good life . I hope that I gave some directions to John to find the wreck that I found . Circumstances made it impossible to make it more clear to him . He may find the bronze cannons still ! . I was also quite pleased to finally meet Old Man ( Ed ) . AS a matter of fact I did meet most of you guys . I promissed John to be back in June and trawl the West coast untill we would have discovered one of the wrecks there . However it looks like I cannot make it since I will be operated on both legs . This will take some time . I am sure the wrecks do not walk away from us though . Regards to all . Cornelius

Cornelius,
It was our pleasure to have you stay with us. You are welcome in our home anytime. I look forward to seeing you again.
Jeff & Ellen

Cornelius,

It was a pleasure to meet you, I am sorry I was not able to spend more time and get to know you better, but that doesn't change the fact it was a pleasrure and an honor to meet you, you are a gentleman in every sense of the word.... :icon_thumright:

Cornelius, it was very nice meeting you. I am sorry we didnt talk all day, I had lots of people to meet! And food and drink! I hope your legs are even better than before, after the surgery. I know several people who have had knee replacement, and hip replacement, and they walked much better than before. I dont know what you are having done, but I will pray for your fast recovery. I hope we can get together again. Steve.

Speedy recovery to you Cornelius!

I too wish I had more time to talk to you --- great cookout and just too short a time to talk to everyone

like Steve says also the time on beer and food.. mmm.

the great stories, info, and conversations swirling that day - looking forward to the next time
