We've had researchers, divers, successful and unsuccessful treasure hunters, metal detectorists, miners and people just interested in treasure hunting. We'll have people that will be coming that haven't been here in the past and some that are returning. It's open to anyone interested in treasure hunting. It will begin around noon on Saturday and last as long as anyone wants to stay.
I have made arrangements for the ribs and chicken to be catered by Cecil's Texas style BBQ. He'll be cooking onsite. We'll also be cooking burgers, hotdogs and heating up other stuff on the grills. One old treasure hunting partner of mine will prepare the best Gumbo you ever had. We'll supply the beer, soft drinks, water and ice tea. In the past, guests have brought some additional dishes that were joyously received. After I get an accurate head count, I'll have a better idea how much we'll need. Cecil's will be cooking only for the number I give them,after that they will leave, so if, as in the past, unexpected folks were able to show at the last minute, it would be good to have extra stuff on hand to make sure they don't go hungry and thirsty.
When I supplied all the ribs and chicken last year, I overestimated and had to eat ribs and chicken for five months afterwards.LOL. Good thing I like 'em.
I stopped in to see and listen in on our Steel Drum player and I was impressed! His song list is impressive too! He'll be here at noon and will play until 5pm.

I'll review responses to make a list of who's coming and who might come. Let me know if you can definitely make it.

I had the honor of working on the Chameau, also, Storm and Dwyar are spot on, what the Province will now have is unregulated recoveries by unscrupulous divers, no reporting, ongoing deterioration and dispersal of the wrecks and that will add up to exactly nothing for the people of Nova Scotia, Canada or the world. The recovery of shipwrecks by expert, motivated Salvers, who conform to the permitting of the Provence is just as legitimate as "archaeologists" who seem to make a living by vilifying salvers efforts and in so doing to make their own inabilities to recover and conserve seem less because they are now protecting Nova Scotia's heritage. Recall that 90+% of the artifacts in the museum from shipwrecks are from professional salvage groups.

Sad really, I did enjoy working with the great people of Nova Scotia in attempting to save these bits and pieces of the past. I do hope that at some point in the future that decisions will be made that actually will have a positive impact on the shipwrecks, the Nova Scotia Museum and the people of Nova Scotia, rather than just the special interests of a handful of "archaeologists" espousing an antiquated ideology for their own purposes.

I wish the People of Nova Scotia the very best and the folks that passed the repeal of the Treasure Trove Law a common sense awakening...

I used to wear a T-Shirt that said, " I'm the Man your Mother Warned you about. " There may be snow on my roof, but there's still smoke coming out of the Chimney.
