I found this trio this morning at the beach. Nice bling, but none of it the real thing.

Grand total after 50 detecting trips:
Gold = zero
Silver = 1

50 hunts and no Gold ? Sounds like me 😳🫣😂🤣

Correct. Sadly, zero gold.
I think 🤔 Regardless of how it looks on Treasurenet, finding gold is rare for most everyone.
It’s more like being lucky than being good, yes there is some skill involved, some knowing your machine, some knowing if the signal it’s giving you is actually something worth digging… but I used to look at it like this…
One in 100 will lose something of value (penny, coin, key, etc)
One in 500 will lose something of greater value. (Sunglasses, cheap costume jewelry, pocket knife, etc)
One in a 1000 will lose something of higher value (Silver ring, Reyband sunglasses 🕶️, watch etc) and
One in 10,000 will lose something of HIGH value (Gold or Platinum Ring, Gold Chain, Rolex etc)
The numbers may be a little different but you get the idea…
We are looking for a needle 🪡 in a haystack actually.
When you walk out onto that beach and look up and down and see how VAST that is and realize you have to walk over something the size of a dime or nickel (ring size) then you can really understand what you are up against.

I get it. You certainly wouldn't know it, though, from all those detectorist Youtube videos with the headings "There's gold in the scoop!," "Gold and diamonds found!!!", etc., and seemingly every trip out nets them gold and silver. Board posts aren't quite as dramatic, but they're pretty plentiful with gold, platinum, silver, and diamond-finds, as if they're as common as rocks on the road. It's what made me so angry early on, when I thought everyone was regularly finding valuable jewelry except me, and one more "Gold found!!" post would push me over the edge.

Your influenced by social media instead of your own personal life.
You haven't a clue of the youtube poster if they have gone out once or 20x to obtain that gold recovery.
In doing this for 55yrs the more I try the less I get.
The less I really care about getting anything is when I get the one that I remember.
When you reach that inner peace of it really doesn't matter, that's when it happens.

I will say your odds really do suck- just being honest.

😂🤣😂 we ALL see that shit …
I would say… those who find these things POST these things… but there are probably a million people chasing those gold and silver rings… maybe 100 are finding one…

I thought everyone was regularly finding valuable jewelry except me,
You have to take all this with a grain of salt… Ask any person who will be HONEST with you and you will find that they spend a LOT more time looking THAN finding…

I don’t live at the beach, but inland… I find a LOT more stuff in playgrounds and schools than I ever have on the beach. I go out once or twice a week for 5-6 hours, I hit 3-4 tot lots each day I hunt. I find maybe 1 piece of gold a month… Now figure out the number of hours I spend looking to get that 1 piece of gold? And when I say 1 piece I’m not talking about gold rings… just ANYTHING gold. Mostly maybe an earring..

I dont agree totally with this....it is skill, it is strategy, it is research that makes the difference. Odds are different at every spot, and the machine is only part of the equation of being successful at finding gold. I've had long streaks of finding gold every hunt, and ive had long gold droughts. There is luck involved for sure, but making intelligent decisions while hunting is more important than if the machine can see 1 inch deeper.....in my opinion? I rarely adjust my machine from factory presets....beach 2 on the EQX. Its about where you hunt more than how the machine is set up in my case. You rarley see me post anything but gold or diamonds anymore and sometimes I dont post it at all. Its different if im relic hunting or hunting treasure coins....thats a different mission set. I used to post all the piles of clad, and trash, but im after jewelry when im at the beach. If I post silver it'll be something designer like Tiffany, and chrome hearts....for this jewelry season. I've also learned that posting gold ring and gold chains one right after the other doesn't always make people happy....your finds that your so happy to share sometimes makes people jealous, and they dont believe you, and they start to question your finds ?? Instead of applause you get silence and jealousy and disbelief. But believe me, there are people getting gold daily, and sometimes day after day !! Right now powerful onshore winds are pummeling the treasure coast....if i didn't have to work I'd be on my way....if the treasure coins dont manifest.....I could hit any number of great spots between the treasure coast and the keys and go right back to jewelry hunting after the blow....there will be lots of gold found !!

For those who detect the beach, I recently realized that most of those in the water, regardless of the tide, are in up to their waist or chest. I keep hearing "deeper is better." Then you have the majority of beach detectorists (at least where I'm at) who only detect in the wet or dry sand and never venture into the ocean. So, I figured I'd try the water between hip-high and the shore, generally knee-high, since I almost never see detectorists in that zone. I did this last Thursday and found my first ring in a month. I did it again over the weekend and found three more rings and a gold chain. It was all non-valuable bling, but still a huge jump up from me finding virtually zilch for a month.

That why some of us dont post every gold ring....people get upset, and pushed over the edge !! All of a sudden there becomes doubt and resentment from some people....happens alot.....resentment because of jealousy. And im supposed to want to share my finds, and techniques, and secrets !?😂 all of a sudden more people are upset than thrilled or encouraged. Perhaps you are missing something in your skill set, or strategy ? Keep practicing, or there's always pickle ball !!

56 years for me (1969) so we must be just about the same age PJ. Your post reminded me about when I was a teen and looking to get a girlfriend. When I didn't have a girlfriend, seems it was hard to find one and took quite a bit of time. But as soon as I had a girlfriend and stopped looking, there were 4 or 5 other girls knocking on my door, lol. Feast or famine.

I think it's all about perspective and timing with detecting. You and I have been swinging coils a long time. We've had the benefit of being in this hobby before everybody & their brother jumped in, so we can remember those years where we were scooping up gold & silver jewelry on a regular basis. I even remember finding necklaces in the wet with 1/2 the necklace sticking out on top of the sand, didn't even need my detector, lol.

Sure, I still get a thrill finding gold & silver as much as the next guy, but if I don't, it's no big deal. But that's because I've already experienced making great finds over many years where I think CH has recently entered the hobby, so he's still looking to get his first gold. But for me, seems the older I get, the less I care about what I find, have, or get. Just being out there is a blessing and every additional day the good Lord gives me, along with the health to be able to continue swinging a coil is a treasure in itself.

Totally agree T. Watch the news every day and you'll see mainly crime, riots, theft, assaults, all kinds of bad stuff. But the reality is that the vast majority of people are good, kind, and help their fellow man. But the news doesn't seem to want to report the feel-good stories, only the bad stuff that's going on. Evil just gets more PR which leads people to think that's just the way it is.

Most guys don't post pics of all the junk they found; they'll just wait until they have a decent find to post. But if everyone posted their finds from every hunt, I think everybody would feel much better when they see most other guys are finding junk too. Of course, looking at pics of cheddar & diamonds is much more enjoyable than seeing pics of pull tabs, tent spikes, fishing weights, can slaw, etc., lol.

Think about how far you've come CH. I remember your earlier posts where you weren't finding anything, except maybe a pull tab. IIRC, I think you were mainly hunting the dry back then, which is where everyone else hunts because it's easy and accessible. But you didn't give up, were persistent, and now you are miles ahead of when you first started. But the important thing about finding that bling, valuable or not, is that you're learning where that bling has been hiding. You're finding it now because you're hitting areas in the water that most other hunters aren't hitting. Hunting in water is harder than the dry, and it's extremely difficult if not impossible to work a steady and consistent grid in the water compared to the dry, because waves and water constantly push you around. There's a much higher likelihood that there's areas of sand under the water that haven't seen a coil.

Most bling is lost in the water, due to skin shrinkage from the colder water. If most of your competition are hunting the dry, and maybe a bit down into the wet, but you're out in the water where most bling is lost, who do you think has the best chance at finding that bling? Even if the rings & chains aren't gold (yet), you're starting to find them, and learning where you need to hunt to get them, at some point, you'll find one that's gold or silver.

Real or not, you're starting to find bling in the water, which is proof that people are losing it out in the water. The odds are in your favor that some of that bling will turn out to be gold or silver. You're on the right track, your time is coming, keep going.

I will say though that this ONLY works if your hunting at LOW tide, because if not, you are hunting where everyone else can hunt when the tide is low... meaning...
If I'm not finding anything at low tide, (which I normally don't) then you won't find anything at high tide out waist deep...

That why some of us dont post every gold ring....people get upset, and pushed over the edge !! All of a sudden there becomes doubt and resentment from some people....happens alot.....resentment because of jealousy. I, for one, am thrilled to see the finds you make BB, as well as Felix, OBN, and others. To me, seeing your finds is inspirational, and proof that good finds are still out there to be made. The guys who get jealous or are resentful need a mentality reset. They should be inspired by your finds, i.e., "If he can do it, so can I".

Maybe it's a generational thing, but when I was a kid, I went to military school, and my teachers were nuns. I'll never forget during one of our school's football games when one of the nuns told all of us "cheer for your team, not against the other team". So, I cheer all the great finds you're making, and I'll share the ones I make along the way.

I will say though that this ONLY works if your hunting at LOW tide, because if not, you are hunting where everyone else can hunt when the tide is low... meaning...
If I'm not finding anything at low tide, (which I normally don't) then you won't find anything at high tide out waist deep...
True that. And waist high at high tide is typically only knee deep at low tide, much easier to work in knee deep water than waist/chest deep. And IMHO, less chance of large toothy critters swimming around in knee deep water, lol. 🦈

Its easy to make a slick video, I just made one....some of us only make these videos for our friends, and I started to make videos to show off here....I dont make a dime, and im not monetized, and I have never asked for anyone to subscribe. I enjoy making videos of my day so others can see how much fun im having, and what its like for me. I think I have 200 subscribers.....not 2 million....most are my friends. The point of the videos are also to show just how different it is here and in the islands than it is on the mainland of Florida. If you watch my video, you'll see past my fifty dollar bill at anchored boats, and people wading. I hunt the sand bars because thats where the most gold is !! If im in 1 foot of water, or in 5 feet of water, im always submerged completely.....there are no waves, and I never stand up. My metldetector will only reach so deep....that is the limit of how deep you can go without compressed air. When you always where a mask, and always can see your work, it gives all sorts of insights into what's actually happening with sand, targets, and current etc. There are many different techniques to this game, and each one has its place and time....I only have a season here....once the season is over it becomes rough, windy, and zero visibility. Other techniques have to be used, or completely different approach. Winter is for dry sand, land hunts, and knee deep spots. My gold numbers go way down, and I focus on treasure coins and relic hunting till spring !!

My video is just the cream, and some of that is still worthless....2 fake cartier, and an aoura ring have no value to me. But I did find a fifty and 2 golds in a single 5 hour hunt. Including a diamond 💎
This is a typical hunt minus the clad and trash....which is very abundant!!

Small hay stack, with lots of needles makes it easier for sure....confine the people in the water to a small area, add booze, and horse play, and you get a small haystack with lots of needles....this is key for me. The spots you hunt make the difference, and then your skill counts. Little boy named conner came up to me with a 10k gold man ring last time too !! He's about 12 and got some gold too !! The next generation of finders....his smile was huge, and he was stoked to see my big diamond.....point is conner has very little experience but is playing and learning in the small haystack that has lots of needles !! He is gaining knowledge and insight into treasurehunting that might take others many more years to gain in other areas.
