50th trip hunt

I found this trio this morning at the beach. Nice bling, but none of it the real thing.

I will say though that this ONLY works if your hunting at LOW tide, because if not, you are hunting where everyone else can hunt when the tide is low... meaning...
If I'm not finding anything at low tide, (which I normally don't) then you won't find anything at high tide out waist deep...

Right now we have king tides....a very special time to hunt here. The added high water adds to the flow of current over the sandbar....rippled white sand (moving sand) gives way to large current stripped areas of shell and clay !! These spots are big bonus for trapped heavies !! When the tide drains its like holding the lever down while flushing until the bowl gurggles !! This allows me to go even deeper than normal !! King 🤴 tides are very productive....they also erode the dune for those treasure coins !!

Small hay stack, with lots of needles makes it easier for sure....confine the people in the water to a small area, add booze, and horse play, and you get a small haystack with lots of needles....this is key for me. The spots you hunt make the difference, and then your skill counts. Little boy named conner came up to me with a 10k gold man ring last time too !! He's about 12 and got some gold too !! The next generation of finders....his smile was huge, and he was stoked to see my big diamond.....point is conner has very little experience but is playing and learning in the small haystack that has lots of needles !! He is gaining knowledge and insight into treasurehunting that might take others many more years to gain in other areas.

Wise words of wisdom BB. Conner reminds me of that saying, "even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then". But for the blind squirrel to be able to find that nut, he needs to be in an area where the nuts are lying. There's a similar saying in business "find out what people want to buy then go stand in front of them". The takeaway here IMHO is: gotta be working an area where people are losing treasure in order to be able to find treasure. Sounds deep & philosophical, but basically, it's just common sense, lol.

Bingo !! That's the key to success !! Add some bottom conditions that are better than other spots, and wow 👌 you start having big Gold days. If the spot is one that attracts wealthy people even better. If the wealthy people get drunk and cut loose, now your getting those 3-5 ring days with triple golds. A perfect storm of losing and finding on a weekly basis!!

Don't forget kinetic, verses static spots !! Heavy surf can bury gold overnight beyond detector range.....a static swimming hole with no wave action can hide gold just inches deep for weeks...months...etc. the kinetic surf zone holds many treasures....recovery becomes more difficult.

The point of the videos are also to show just how different it is here and in the islands than it is on the mainland of Florida. If you watch my video, you'll see past my fifty dollar bill at anchored boats, and people wading. I hunt the sand bars because thats where the most gold is !! If im in 1 foot of water, or in 5 feet of water, im always submerged completely.....there are no waves, and I never stand up. My metldetector will only reach so deep....that is the limit of how deep you can go without compressed air. When you always where a mask, and always can see your work, it gives all sorts of insights into what's actually happening with sand, targets, and current etc.

Man BB, what I wouldn't give to be able to hunt in crystal clear waters. When I got my PADI cert in Cozumel many years ago and was lying on the ocean floor 43ft down, it's was so peaceful, I could see everything and was just in my own world, didn't want to come back up. Ever since then, I've dreamed of detecting while snorkeling in clear water, out of sight and in my own world. Scoop up a find, place in my pouch, and nobody's the wiser, lol.

Here in MD & DE, our ocean & bay waters are dark/murky. A black coil disappears quickly but now that I have a Dual Field PI with that yellow 12" Spider coil, I can actually see that coil when in knee deep water, so much better. But now that I think about it, freshwater lakes have pretty clear water. Hmmm, maybe I'll have to branch out give lake hunting a try. I could snorkel off the lake beaches, maybe get a hookah rig and search further out under any dive platforms I come across. There's always a way, lol.

I was wondering… just me wondering.. I was down in Jacksonville Florida a few days ago and was looking for a public beach to hunt. Now I know that ANY beach in florida from high tide to low tide is open hunting for Metal Detecting… but there are these HUGE RESORTS that are clearly private property. (Not the beach in front of them) with no public access… 3-4 miles down is a public beach access area and has anyone actually walked down in front of an area like this to see if the hunting is better? Or not?
It was nighttime and the 3-4 miles were in front of million dollar homes.. but nothing else until the Resort.. anyone have stories about something like that? And was it worth the walk down?
This also might apply to the Treasure Coast where there are miles and miles of beaches but maybe no public access unless you walk for hours …

I think what im trying to convey is im in a very different situation than most people think of when they think beach and shallow water. The typical beach hunting is standing in shallow water with detector and scoop. Down here the water is so clear it lends itself to snorkel detecting. It is a very different approach than is generally used.

Yes...thats what im looking to hunt....the long walk means less people have tried !! Definitely worth it if you can make the hike, or gain access.

First I monitor Google earth. Then you find where the sand has been moved and rock is exposed. Then you find the closest access point. Then you wait for perfect conditions and snorkel hunt these spots....even if you have to hike a mile or 2 before you enter the water.

You must use a strategy like this or be doomed to hunt deep sand and renourishment sand. These rocky areas with light sand are where you want to water hunt on clear days....west palm beach is awsome when the ocean allows !!

When you always where a mask, and always can see your work, it gives all sorts of insights into what's actually happening with sand, targets, and current etc. There are many different techniques to this game, and each one has its place and time....I only have a season here....once the season is over it becomes rough, windy, and zero visibility. Other techniques have to be used, or completely different approach. Winter is for dry sand, land hunts, and knee deep spots. My gold numbers go way down, and I focus on treasure coins and relic hunting till spring !!

My video is just the cream, and some of that is still worthless....2 fake cartier, and an aoura ring have no value to me. But I did find a fifty and 2 golds in a single 5 hour hunt. Including a diamond 💎
This is a typical hunt minus the clad and trash....which is very abundant!!

Yes...its lab grown so not as valuable as a natural diamond, but still has substantial value....the setting is white gold 14k.

I get plates full of crap like this for one gold....got to have lots of targets to flip to play the odds...I shouldn't say this, but its so competitive with others that I may leave a plate full of crap like this also. Sometimes I leave the clad and pop tops for others to sort through when my pockets are full. Other times I dont dig certain sounds and numbers I know are trash. There might be 4 of us per spot all summer long, with many others showing up from out of town to give it a try also !! Once you have a good spot you must be first to get there each week, or have the confidence and skill to not worry who's first and just go behind others and get what they miss. These spots like south beach and los olas always have gold no matter how many have gone before you. That's when the skill and efficiency at flipping targets gets important.

I have walked a mile down beach to hunt in front of rich tourist hotels and resorts ($500+ a night and up) on Key Biscayne and hunted in the water in front of the resorts and yes the quality of finds are better.

I lived on the treasure coast from 82-92, and still go up quite often. One day an epiphany hit me 🤔😲......if i start at the wreck site of the "urca de lima"in Ft. Pierce, and I walk one whole day, while detecting and dragging my digger, I should end up at sunset where the survivors of the 1715 wreck would have camped on the first leg of there trek north !! They only went as fast as the slowest person, and they were trying to get to st. Augustin!! Food for thought....how far did survivors go each day before camping for the night....treasure could be in many places along there journey!! Florida is just amazing, and it takes thinking outside the box to get an edge !! All dreams are possible on the coast of Florida keep the faith @Crunchyhippo

Truth be told there were a lot of ships wrecked on that coast, some have never been found or identified, you really can’t be sure which wreck a coin or artifact came from when you find it on the beach. Storms and hurricanes could have pushed anything from any one of these wrecks anywhere within 100 miles of the actual shipwreck site… and with so many shipwreck’s stuff could literally be anywhere 🤷🏼‍♂️
