7,8 & 9TH COPPERS.DRAPED BUST HALF CENT

got out with foundationhunter to hit a site next to an open field. a few buttons and 3 coppers. 2 are totally wiped out one i think i can see the line where the date would be below.state copper or King George i'm guessin.never dug a half cent and have been wanting one badly.finally get one and its wasted oh well least i know it's a draped bust half cent.these ground conditions are so rough on these poor old colonial classics

Congrats on your first half cent, I feel your pain

My first (and only ) capped bust dime sat in the cup holder of my truck for months as I thought it was a punchout from sheet metal

Excellent finds! You know, you might have better luck with the peroxide method than toothbrushing those coppers. Peroxide would leave the patina on them rather than scrubbing it away.

That is one great lookin field. I'd love to be out in the fields right now instead of working my tail end off.

Best Wishes,

Buckles

Its to bad that nature takes its toll in those copper coins.........But still it makes for some great detecting and increases the chances of finding some old silver!!! WTG

I love the feeling holding a freshly dug copper in your hand, even if they are in rough condition.

It is nice seeing bare ground without snow cover!
