7-year-old Nabbed on Felony BB Gun Charges

Desperate point you mean? lol

an electrical inspector who grew up in mass. told me that they wanted him to register his red ryder. Could this be?

?I think he is pulling your chain, but then again it is Mass...

Stoopid and meant to irritate eh?...... I just stated the facts taken from the OP's article...."“They told us that they considered it to be a violent felony — discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle,” Robbins said. “It was crazy. We completely disagreed with the charges.”

I grew up with air rifles. Only choice we had, so don't try to teach your Grandmother how to suck eggs mate ok!

By the way - a CS Gas spray is classed as a "firearm" under UK law...where's the "fire" from that?

In the UK any airgun that can deliver over 12 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle requires an FAC "firearms" permit. Your average pump up pellet gun will usually deliver around 8-9 foot pounds and a daisy red ryder BB gun is less than 1.5 foot pounds of energy. So at 7 yrs old I am guessing he is using a red ryder and 1.5 foot pounds of energy is in no way comparable to a firearm.

Here in IL USA, they require you to have a firearms card to purchase any airgun that is .22 cal or larger but they still aren't considered firearms and aren't treated like firearms, don't need to be registered etc.

IL is not a very friendly firearms state. The only state in the US that does not issue concealed carry permits. But the supreme court ruled it unconstitutional so at some point in the near future we will be able to get CC permits.

A bb gun is not a "fire" arm, it's a pneumatic arm. No fire. :dontknow:

Yep unfortunately IL should be split into two separate states. Springfield and north should be one state and everything south of there another, North and South IL. The southern part of the state really has nothing in common with northern IL and almost all of the political decisions of the state are driven by the northern half and don't really fit how the southern part of the state lives.

Welcome to the forums Chad, I think splitting states in half could apply to several states. California comes to mind as well as Maine.

Never been to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but spent time in Lansing and Saginaw. Much of it looked and felt like a third world country and that was back in the 90's.

I have a problem believing the kid wasn't shooting at the car on purpose but that's just me knowing how I was with my BB guns. The mother admitted the kid had a discipline problem by stating that he didn't stay in the yard when he was told to. Given that, I'd have to presume it's not the first time the kind didn't mind and is not the kind of kid you allow to have a BB gun. Whether you consider it a firearm or not, you could hit the driver of a vehicle and cause an accident and, possibly, injury or death. The kid has a problem and the parents had best heed the warning.

A true case of dead beat parents and a kid that clearly needs more discipline from a responsible adult in his life. They are in a rural setting right? LOL Must have been some heavy traffic that day in order for the kid to accidentally shoot a car then eh? Now that we have established that they are in a rural setting... Should a 7 year old child be unattended in a rural setting (or anywhere period) with wild animals running around? The parents should have been charged and not the child, unless people think that the parents have the right to be dead beats?

I grew up in rural settings in Florida, played outside all the time unsupervised and do not feel parents were dead beats...the only wild animals were my brothers and I...

Fair enough. Do you agree with the rest of my post then?

You forgetting you're from Arkansas?
