Think i got it bad......

Back out today -8 C with bit of wind and snow !!!!

Ground was covered with snow as it was coming down pretty good...... I was thinking-- I HOPE NO ONE IS WATCHING !!

Almost left once but it stop snowing for a lil bit....fingers were getting cold also.

Switched the detector over to DISCRIM from ALL METAL as i like to do at the ends of my hunts to try and get used to it.

On the way back to the truck----yea I know another one of them stories--- the detector went off on a decent hit but there was a old brick under the coil and they make the detector go off almost always.....so I kicked the brick away and the signal was still there....out popped the lock all in one piece and not seized up....was very surprised considering I just found one the day before.

So that put a smile on my face and called it a day as I had cold fingers and getting damp... hopefully a better day tomorrow.

Not sure if the little coin is a silver coin or not...if so it is the 1st for me in salt water..... it is very small and thin.

Can anyone gimme an ID on the coin and couple of the other items ...TY in advance .

I,ll take your advise Iron Patch.

Very true words of wisdom. !!!!

Unless it's something like pewter buttons that need to be sealed, just hold off on any aggressive or cleaning or shining for a while to give it some time to see what kind of taste you acquire for your finds. Way back in the day I did shine up a few silver coins here and there, but by the time I found anything old, I quit thinking maybe it wasn't such a good idea. Now years later I think thank God I didn't take the baking soda to my Spanish silver because I can't stand heavily polished or shined coins. The same thing for relics, in the beginning I thought a green patina looked stupid because it was so different than what the item would have looked like when it was made and used, but now for a dug find if you don't have gold gilt, or silver plate, a nice green patina is a solid 3rd place for condition. Usually shore finds are what they are, and not much can or should be done to them, but as you start finding the same stuff on land it's a whole other story. Obviously I believe in cleaning dug finds, but not going beyond that, and the cleaning has to be the right choice.
