Hello everyone!

It was cold today here in Michigan, about 40 degrees, but no wind and no rain so out I went. I hit a schoolyard in the richie rich part of town, one I hit in the spring. See if she had replenished at all. I also had a backup plan just in case I was finding nothing, but I didn't need it. I hit the woodchip areas and finds were sort of slow and I saw traces that another detectorist had been there also since I hit it in the spring. I had some holes that were soft and obviously dug and filled lately with the trash replaced in the bottom...grrr. Not my holes, I remove and dispose of 100% of my dug trash. Anyway, I kept at it and didn't give up. That paid off in the end!

I ended up with $7.34 with 79 coins in 4 hours of total searching time. I didn't know it until I cleaned up the finds, but I had a Sac dollar in my pouch. I had a medium amount of trinket jewelry, a ring, an earring, 5 pendants, and a couple pins. I also found a huge nail, like 11 inches long and made of galvanized steel. Must be a landscaping nail.

For the first two and half hours or so, I had no keepers but I kept at it and finally on the last set of swings in the last woodchip area I hit paydirt. A sweet kids 14kt gold ring. It's got a diamond cut face and is very pretty. Digging everything paid off on this as it was directly underneath a large twisted piece of steel. The other detector dude probably hit it and chose not to dig because it was an iron signal. Cha ching!

For the last hour or so I hit the grassy areas around the front of the school by the bus pick up areas and between the woodchips and the parking lot, and next to the school building. Between the woodchips and parking lot is where I got my second keeper, a nice sterling ring with three stones, green, white, and red, sweet! Finally, I got a surprise, a 1959D Roosie found up next to the building. This school opened in the 1950's sometime, so I guess there's some silver coins still around, yeah!

It was great to be out there whatever the outcome. :) Winter's still holding off and I hope to get out some more before the ground freezes but I am really happy with today's luck and if this is it for the year, what a way to end it!

Coolcash, I will post my new clad totals once more whan the ground finally freezes as I posted my totals as of last weekend already in your thread. Come on everyone, post your 2006 clad dug totals in Coolcash's thread. We are trying to see how much face value money was found this year by TNet members.

You're a mulch machine, Scoob. Congratulations on the rings. :)

Hey Boobydoo.

Nice hunt. Two nice rings, a good pile of $$ and a silver rosie. ;D ;D I bet finding that silver rosie made you want to get back to coin shooting huh? ;) No? What would it take - seated and bust silver? :D

So you ventured out of the chips? The only time I found some rings this summer was when I just got my Exp II and was digging everything. Went to a local elementary school. I found three rings that day. All were just outside the chips in the grass.

Nate and I went out hunting yesterday. Didn't get to the berg as I wanted to make it a shorter day. Nate found a solid gold ring(10k). I did dig some pull tab signals. But after about 3 I started just walking on... ::) :D

Clad totals - It's going to take Nate and I a while to count ours. We have at least 3000 coins. Probably more like 5000. We traditionally wait until hunting season is done(usually late Dec for us).

take care

Bob

Thanks Peter!! Well, we'll see on the early retirement...lol. It's fun either way and that's the main thing.

The Sacagawea Dolloar came out a few years ago and it was the US Mints latest try to get a one dollar coin into circulation to be used and carried by the public. It hasn't been popular for that purpose but collectors like them. It's slightly larger than a US quarter ($0.25).
Here's a photo of it as mine is discolored from being in the ground.

God bless buddy!

Nice finds BDoo........don't ya just love it when you can follow some other MD'er around and pick up all the stuff he should have had if he would have "just followed the rules".....LOL.........HH buddy.......gregd573

thanks Greg! It's the right thing to doo, for our hobby and from a safet stand, pulling the sharps out so no kids get hurt. Plus, if I detect there again someday, I wouldn't want to keep digging the same junk every time.
Best of luck to you buddy!

Keen eye Mechtech!! Yes it is. I always keep the tools I find. Earlier this year I found a two foot long pipe wrench in great shape with hardly any rust. That cost some bucks to buy new.
Thanks for the visit and read my friend!

Great to see you again buddy!! I'll be back in Cleveland tomorrow again I think. I won't know for sure until I get to the office in the AM. I sometimes hit the grassy areas, it depends what my gameplan is for the day. If I plan to hit multiple schools, I usually just hit the woodchips and move on. But I keep good records and also have an idea which schools have good potential in the grassy areas. I was really pleased to see the gold ring pop up. I have been pretty lucky the past few trips out. See you again soon bud, thanks!

Hi again Peter. Here's a link that tells a little history about here.

It was a little controvercial when the US Mint honored her by putting her on the new dollars. They are really pretty coins but they definitely loose there shine in the ground. Mine is brown color now not gold. Take care my friemnd, god bless!
