My first Indian Head this year!! I'm most impressed with how intricate this little button is. This thing is tiny, was down about 6 inches and has a tiny flower on a delicately lined background. This came from a cellarhole site that has produced quite a few old large cents so i'm guessing this button to be early to mid 1800's. The Indian Head came up about 100 yards from the cellarhole where and old schoolhouse used to stand. Thanks for havin a look and HH!!! Jerry

Thanks CTG!! Start with a pile of q tips and a little cup of ammonia, wet the q tip then ROLL it back and forth over the IH,when it gets dirty, flip it around and do the same thing,If you scrub the surface you risk taking that beautiful green patina off. I used about 10 q tips on this Indian. Dip and roll and pretty soon through all the crud you will start to see some green show through. When i dug this i thought it was toast, could only make out a little detail on the reverse, nothing on the obverse til i started with the q tips and ammonia.

Man, I have to tell ya--Your ammonia method is first rate for cleaning those coins.

Well done, my friend. It was really nice to read a post by you.

Best Wishes,
