to 50 silver coins.........from 49 since last week. That was the number that LI TOM and I settled on. Not wanting to wait another day or week, I got myself out of bed and to the park where I had found a SLQ. We've been over this place time and time again, but I still had and have faith that it can produce.
With only 2 1/2 hours set aside for this run before I had to head to work, I was thinking of the strategy and locations throughout the entire subway ride. Tom would've had a fit to see that the Park's Department folks decided to blow a 10" layer of leaves over the good areas. I managed whatever good ground was left and things were going well as far as targets. Plenty of coin signals, even picked up a few quarters. The ground has started to freeze here, so digging was not at its best. At one point it looked as though this would end up in a fair clad hunt, but after picking up a couple of wheats in a past producing patch, I ran into a signal that sounded good enough to dig. What came out first is that clover looking thing. I believe it to be a button, not sure.
A quick re-scan of the hole revealed a fainter signal, but confirmable through pin-pointing a bit to the left of where the button thing was. Dug a bit more and whatever it was dropped on top of the snow, low and behold, I couldn't find it. Passed the coil a few inches away from the hole and knew it was already out and on top but couldn't see it at all. In my mind I figured, hell, this is good, it just may be a silver coin blending in with the snow, and logic became reality. Using the edge of the Explorer coil, I zeroed in on it, a silver Rosie, and my 50th silver coin for the year. As usual, photos attached.
