hello all i went. To mu Great grandmother's house it was built in 1910. When I got there the i started to find some wheats (not pictured) and a silver plated spoon (also not pictured) then i got this weird signal i thought it was going to be a pull tab when i dug it. A first i thought it was a watch fob when i wiped some the dirt off.I saw the Confederate flag and the word Confederacy my started to pound when i got back i cleaned it off some more on the back it said: The Southern Cross of Honor. DEO VINDICE. Which meant: With God As Our Vindicator. 1861-1865. It was given to the veterans of the Confederacy. On the front it says: United Daughters Confederacy To The U.C.V. They were given out i think from 1880's-1900's. I'm really happy finding this thanks for looking Happy Hunting :hello: P1100376.webpP1100377.webpP1100379.webpP1100380.webpP1100381.webp

What a great find and such a neat piece of history! I found a United Confederate Veterans Medal at my Great Aunts house years ago. It was from the UCV reunion that was held at Louisville, KY in May 30th-June 3rd 1900. Congrats on an awesome find!

It was hardly a long time ago as trees that grew in the active battlefields still grow today with the bullets and shrapnel still inside. The memory of the Civil War has faded but the scars are still fresh and the proof of its occurrence lay still scattered all around us waiting to be found.

Gold Boy, Congrat's on not only a fantastic find, but a true piece of Southern History. The Southern Cross was a prized possession of those old Confetrit' Veterans. My great, great grandfather was one of many who had earned the right of ownership of this true badge of honor. I always felt that a great many of the old vets were probably buried with their crosses. I have seen a few pic's of ones found, but not that many at all. To find one of these would truly be a Thrill and a great addition to any collection. This will undoubtedly have a place of Honor in your collection. A Banner Find indeed. Well Done and Thanks for sharing this with us. This could have been worn by one of Gen. Hood's men.:icon_thumright:
