That's pretty cool. They won't let us take wild animals home in our state, but good deal you saved her.

Yeah, technically it's against the law here too but there was no way we were gonna leave her there. We were actually encouraged to rehab her by the local and very understaffed rescue. Originally the intent was to release her but we found her in mid August last year, the harvest season would have been over by the time we released her and of course the cold weather was beginning to set in up on the mountain in September so we wintered her. Of course she was a solitary kit, we had to ween her and she imprinted on us in a big way. Release now is probably not really an option, she wouldn't know what to do up there I don't think so she's our friend now and quite frankly the greatest source of joy in our lives. Everyone benefitted from it, she lives a pretty posh lifestyle now and come the warmer weather we're gonna build a great big outdoor enclosure around one of the trees in the yard so she can live outside part time. We got really lucky finding her and she got lucky too
