A Very strange find from last night, devil head or something racist?

My wife dug this up last evening nearly at dark, she was excited at finding something old and yet wasn't quite sure as to what it actually is. It has pointed ears which sorta points maybe to a devil and yet other traits make me wonder if it had something to do with racism. What do you think it is? It appears to be made out of a hard lead as it is pretty heavy. It was pretty much the best find of the evening as we killed pull rings and various iron mixed with clad. In the darkening light and still covered with dirt, it was hard to tell exactly what she had. It is about 2" tall and about 1 5/8" wide, 3/8" thick at thickest point. It looks like it was broken off of right below the collar, like it was even bigger or part or possibly a body.

I think it is a "sambo" type piece, the ears are odd, but the curly hair and large lips are the deciding factor for me.

A lot of younger people may not know what that means now but that was pretty much what we were thinking.

There has been some not so pleasant history in our area back around 1900ish and that was what I immediately thought of. Me, I am one that sees people as good or bad by their actions. Every race has their good people as well as those that are just bad news. I almost didn't post this. DL

Pretty neat find..... really not much different then looking at some of the mugs on some of the older coins we find. A mugs a mug.....

If you actually look at these faces they appear to be slightly different.. look at the collar, and the ears look different also, from what I see one side the mouth is slightly open and the other is just smiling.
But I agree that this is a "Sambo" type piece..

Not certain what this image is but, I wouldn't hesitate at posting it to find out. Most folks seem pretty level headed and mature around here. I reckon if I was fortunate enough to dig a slave tag I would certainly post that. If this is indeed an image of a darker pigmented race of human being we can all be civil about it. The ear being pointed gives the impression of the devil, satan, Lucifer but, I am thinking along the lines of African decent. Who made it and for what purpose is anybody's guess. I think it's a cool find DL.
