A Wilver Coin

Hey, dudes, the club and I got out for some good ole' relic hunting. We hit Paco's research site today and it produced some more goodies. I was detecting in the area where some half cents were found, when I got a nice wilver tone. I plucked some soil out and saw the coin on the ground...my thoughts were racing, "Draped...Spanish...Capped!" But, I was soon disappointed....it was a lowly Mercury dime. I think I literally let out a, "DAMN it!" I threw the dirt back into the hole and went on without even re-checking it...I almost boot kicked the Merc into the nearby weeds, but soon thought, "Hmmm...wilver is wilver, I guess." I later found 3 Wheat pennies and these sons-of-b****es went, literally, into the nearby stream....you dudes would have done the same...heck, they gave off nice half penny tones.

One of the goodies for the day was found by my good friend, Paco. We were working our superman detecting powers on another field, when I heard, Paco, yell, "Large copper!" It turned out to be a Colonial coppa. It looks to be another King George III halfpenny. This is the 4th Colonial from this field....hell, I found the last 3 from this field, so I was happy for him.

So, I ended the day with the 1945-D wilver dime. If any of you dudes would like the GPS coordinates of the tossed Wheat pennies, I can work that up for you, so you can recover them.

Let's see you didn't post a photo for the merc.,cause it's only a merc., and you "tossed" the wheaties cause they didn't meet your standards, but felt you had to tell us about it anyway. ::)

I was hunting the other day and found a flux capacitor but I didn't think you would want to see that either. lol

It's okay to be disappointed with a Merc and a few wheats. It's still a good story. When you're used to finding the older stuff (in their case, much older), Mercs and wheats can be disappointing. It's not arrogance, necessarily. Now, had he found a 16D or any 21 Merc, we'd be hearing a little different slant to the story.

Hey Kirk, I'll trade you my half cents for that your Mercs...you know, those ones I get in the schoolyards, tinsnipped in half lincolns ...lol.

I am glad you got out but really disappointed in ya today, dangit, no coppers, no backflips or Zoy happy dances. So get you buns back out there and get detecting.
