I jumped out of work a bit early today and hit Reshaw park in Evansville. Pretty much the oldest part of the county. Old Oregon trail, Army fort. Figured it would be RIPE for the picking.
I think it has been worked over MANY times in the past. Some old shotgun and rifle shells, but other than that it was just trash.

Crazy, I had no clue there was activity over there that long ago. We've got one of the old crossings at the ranch that was no toll, they charged a toll at fort casper bridge. They tore out a bunch of the old wagon rutts when they were making highway 220 a divided highway east of goose egg restaurant. Should be a good weekend for some diggin!!
I didn't get up there. I was stuck on Evansville right across the field from Reshaw.
Ya, when the bridge was built, apparently the army sent out a contingent from fort Caspar to guard it. They were stationed there for a year or two.
I know that every time they build something out there, they run into old artifacts. Unfortunately, most of it is now private. When I was a kid, we used to hunt arrowheads all over there.
I went up to the North Casper clubhouse for a few hours today. I did a real quick scan of 1/2 the park to see if anything jumped out at me.
Lots of good signals, but I only went after the one less than 8 inches deep. I found an old locket and some other older keys/coins/etc.
With time (it would take many hours of gridding that park), I bet some neat old treasures would pop out of the ground.

I don't think its been worked over, found a nice little spyderco knife last time I was there and a lot of deeper coins with old pull tabs. Wedding receptions and all kinds a parties have gone on there for decades, has to be some necter.

So typed a long post about last weekend, somehow I lost it before it went up.
condensed version, 5 wheats, a silver rosie and a merc. Also a buck or so in clad.
Glad everyone is getting out.
Ya, I noticed a LOT of deep signals. There is a large sprinkler/sewage system right behind the house, so that threw me for a min until I mapped it out. I actually found a buried junction box that they have probably been missing for years.
Coupled with the roots from all the trees, the deeper targets will take a little work to get to. I went down to about 8 inches, but not any deeper.
This is certainly a park where proper plug technique is a must. Very flat, short grass. Ugly cuts are going to show.

Well I haven't been on for awhile but since last time I bought a AT gold MD. I do live in Lovell Wyoming and have got a little but don't really no were I can go so any suggestions would be helpful. Looking for gold, coins, artifacts it don't matter just interested in finding anything but pull tabs.
