Hey guys. Well I have only 11 hours at work and I am not doing so hot. I have bills to pay, so I have to pay them off with my savings account. Good thing it is only $200. The rest of the money I will keep in there and use for CRH because I will not be loosing any money. All I can buy now is Gas though. No Coins for me unless they are really cheap silver coins or wheats. I also will be getting my last $150 paycheck for awhile. I used to get $500 paychecks, until the economy was going through the roof. Anyways, Just wanted to let off some steam. So from now on only $50 paychecks for me, I get paid $9.50 for whoever wants to know.

I'm feeling it every time my wife goes to the grocery store. The cost of groceries has risen about 30 percent here in Florida. Doesn't add up after the gas prices dropped. If they keep climbing, we might have to eat more spam.

Laid off...haven't worked in over 3 months...programmer. Applying for jobs, but not getting them. I can last for quite a while, but if the economy tanks for a prolonged period of time I wonder if I'll ever get a job. Thinking of other ways to make money.

I hate to say it but we haven't seen anything yet.

Last year I wrote here about this and some laughed at me.

We'll see things pick up somewhat from time to time but those improvements will be artificial and not actual.

"Stimulus money" is like an extremely obese person taking all sorts of pills but doing nothing to address the root problem of eating too much.

"Stimulus money" is like giving a druggy one more shot to make him feel better now but worse tomorrow.

Don't worry---most aren't going to starve in this country for a long time yet. What we're going to see is an ever increasing number of poor. I can easily see 40% not working (unemployment/retirement) in this country by 2020. These people will eat and live by mostly state funding due to no retirement benefits or no job. They'll lay around and many will get into trouble due to poverty and boredom.

The America some of knew in the 50's-80's is gone. Socialism and control (loss of freedoms) are upon us.

Have a nice day

Hoping for the best for you guys, hang in there!

Saw a politico yesterday from Ohio telling people in her state to stay in their foreclosed homes until they're physically forced out, so-called "squatter's rights," in essence telling the banks to prove they hold their deeds. Many have been split up and re-packaged for investors that some banks are having trouble finding them!

One thing that irks me is the mock concern most polititians have. I really find it hard to believe, with their millions, that they give a rat's hindquarters about the average struggling Joe and Jane now that the election is over.

Promote the general welfare,
not provide for.

but it's true we were a socialist society, at many points in our past,
barn raisings, church raisings, community potlucks.
all things we volunteered for, were not mandated into, through a tax system now redefined by some in Congress as a system designed to redistribute individual wealth via governmental agency.

Tell us how you really feel.

Fingers Crossed,

My Year is looking a Whole lot Better.

My Auto Insurance dropped to Below $20. a month.
by having them Review it.

My Electric dropped from
almost $80. a month to about $28
by not using lights when I'm not in the room
and putting them Squiggley Idiot bulbs in.

Gas is Half price of last year right now yet.

Property Taxes went down last year.

And non of my other bills went up; Yet.

Got a feeling it's the end of the world.

Thank goodness we are a simple family and don't feel the need to keep up with the Jones'es.....

Hubby's company recently cut out over time...only way you can get it, is if the boss signs a piece of paper authorizing you over time for that day only....if you work over time and DO NOT get that paper signed...you get a warning...after 3 warnings, you are FIRED! As of right now....he still has his 40 hour week. They also stopped matching 401K's....lets see what happens in a couple of months....they'll prob cut medical benies next.

My job....there is a hiring freeze on right now, been that way a couple of weeks. I went from 38-40 hour weeks to 24 hour weeks (that was MY CHOICE, as I chose to go to another dept and I love that dept)....but just before Christmas, they cut out my job (asst to the scan coordinator)....but my store director is a doll and she lets me work that position 2 days a week, our heavy tag days, so I cashier one other day....so I get anywhere from 11 to 16 hours a week...I can't even get hours for other days of the weeks to cashier....the company has lowered how many hours they are allowed on payroll each week...so that puts the store director in a tough spot, because she does not have the hours to give the workers she has now.....and with less people and less hours (ppl will walk), there goes customer service!

Going back to more simple times.....we will be growing every vegie we can think off...and if you don't like it, you will LEARN to like it! We have a pear and cherry tree (both are producing)....I want to plant blackberry bushes and maybe a couple of others, maybe grape vines and strawberries, granted seasonal...but I am teaching myself to can. Thank goodness for my mother in law....Texas born and was raised on canning!!! I'm gonna' learn everything I can from her and take notes!!! I wonder how difficult it would be to grow potatoes??? Wonder if the soil in my yard is ok for it!...

And don't think cause you don't have a huge back yard....or live in an apt, that you can't have a garden...you can, maybe not as big as you would like....google BOX GARDENING and SQUARE FOOT GARDENING...great ideas!!!

I want new curtains for my living room.....Hanover Fabrics had a sale on fabrics and patterns....I got some material really cheap and some great curtain patterns ($1.99 each!!!)....I'll be making my own! (I mean ... some material..good stuff for a really good price! LOL)

There is plenty you can do, but you have to be willing to put (as my father us to say to me).... a little elbow grease into it! You have to be willing to give up something....you don't have to give up everything....but comprimise....learn the difference from wanting something to needing something!!!

I learned my unneeded spending by saving ALL my receipts for a month and realized I was spending needlessly on items I DID NOT NEED....now I have money in the bank :)

Search the net how to make simple meals that are healthly and inexpensive to make, learn to make your own clothes, learn to can, learn to garden, the resources are boundless................

Don't allow yourself to become a statistic.....

Blessings to all,
Annmarie

Look out for your neighbors as well...esp the elderly!!!

Yep

I just figured everything out and Minus any Emergencies
or last minute cost increases somewhere,
I should have at least an Extra $1200.00 This year.

Still deciding. Nope, no problems to speak of. Anyone, I suspect that's lots of you who weathered the :
S & L "crisis"
Loss of the American steel industry (see lots of you Penn folk hereabout)
Shift to foreign cars
and of course the original Jimmy Carter economy (heading for a rerun)
can get through whatever else (within reason) comes along.

We have an edge as MD'ers, we know how to dig our way out.

"flying monkey turd"
I like that. ;D

Things are tough and going to get tougher.

Life goes on..........................

all have a good un...............

No kidding about Florida grocery prices, Farmercal! We were so relieved to see reduced fuel prices so towing our fifth wheel to Florida wasn't so painful. But now that we're here, the grocery gurus are robbing us blind >:( There's no reason for it other than reaping $$ off the snowbirds and even worse the natives are stuck paying exhorbitant prices, too...year around. At least we have the choice of staying home instead; and if this keeps up, we will stay home next year :tongue3:

For the First time in years we pay all the bills due and we have nothing left in the account until next pay day.....We were paying over a hundred dollars a week for gas just for the privilege of being under paid and overworked.

I am very blessed to have a job that provides my home and utilities including cable and internet as part of my job. I do not make a lot of money but with the crazy hours I was putting in at the last job I had no extra money and many times was not sure how I would even pay rent. Here I do not have to worry about that and I am soooo thankful because there are a LOT of folks out of work around here! Unemployment is almost 15% and more and more losing jobs all the time!

Crook County loses 410 jobs in January

From KTVZ.COM news sources

Central Oregon's unemployment rates kept climbing in January - jumping, in the case of Crook County, which lost more than 400 jobs in a single month, the state Employment Department reported Tuesday.

Here's the full text of the agency's news release on the High Desert's job picture.

Seasonally adjusted unemployment rates in Central Oregon increased in January. Individual county rates ranged from 12.0 percent in Deschutes County to 14.9 percent in Crook County. The state rate also rose, from 8.3 percent to 9.9 percent.

quote...."I wonder how difficult it would be to grow potatoes??? Wonder if the soil in my yard is ok for it!..."
Potatos are pretty easy to grow. Just cut up a potato so that each piece has an "eye" and plant them about a foot apart. When the above ground foilage is growing, be sure to use a pest deterrant like sevin dust or the tater bugs will strip them clean.
I am applying to go back to college(I'll be 50 this June) and get a degree in teaching. Read in the paper yesterday that my county is cutting 100 teaching jobs. I guess they had hired all the teachers a couple of years ago to accomadate the illegals. Now that the economy is poor, the illegals are going home and there isn't the demand for all the teachers. Sheesh....
