...do find jasper but if this is some it's the first one in red & larger than others I find. Seems like the brown rock part is over the red & it doesn't leave any streak.....jasper?
I'm thinking more of an agate because of the fracture lines and coloring going more to yellow. The rounding of the piece also leads me to think agate as layers of agate will break off in a rounding pattern. Jaspers fractures like flints with sharp edges and it can be banded like agates. Jaspers don't tend to have a pitted surface either but river stones can look like this one. Best way to tell is to slab it. Make a nice tumbler piece though.
Fossilized corrals tend to have a much more pitted appearance and they show a grainy structure similar to dinosaur bone. They also don't lend to fracturing uniformly.
...thanks guys! It is shiny and smooth feeling on the "color" part, just have never seen jasper with "rock" around it like this. Do have a ton of agate here and nothing like this piece either...maybe a fluke? Seem to have lots of those to... Have found what looks like "bloodstone", could this be related? Will post pic.....
