AT haters.

every one has their own preference. I have used Garrett machines since I was fifteen or so.( I am older now) I received the AT Gold as a present this September from my family. I love my Garrett machine. I am still getting used to it, but have found some nice coins and a ring. AT Gold suits my purpose and more. Everyone should use the machine that feels the most comfortable to the user. I am happy, confident and proficient with Garrett machines. However if someone uses a 99 dollar special or a 3 grand machine as long as you are confident, happy and proficient with your machine all the power to you. I won't bash another brand just because I use the brand I like. MD-ers need to support one another in this great hobby. Even though I may never meet a soul from this forum I consider you all my extended metal detecting family. So let's put our preferences aside and dig some ground!!!

I had an AT gold. It was heavy, broke within 2 weeks, and was just a noisy pos. it was the third Garrett I have owned. I got it fixed and bought a Tesoro Cibola. This machine works great. It also cost a lot less and from the tone in the headphones can get a pretty decent idea of what it is before I dig it. In one year it has Paid for itself 20 times over. To each his own. I don't hate the at, just didn't like it.

Well well well, I don't hate the AT Pro, I think it is a good machine. Proof is in the pudding. The fact it is half the price of my detector doesn't bother me a bit. Its the whiny sound it makes, I just could never get used to that. Whiny detectors are for whiners.

I love it when she whines, thats always the best treasure. 2 Barber dimes this week

New machines are fun. My initial though posting on here was to get some good advice, but folks automatically figured I was bashing the ATP because I own a Fisher. While my comments are true, I was making fun of me too. I already know the atp and the atg are good machines. I just think the reality shows did the other brand a injustice. Now the ATX is out, have they dropped the price of the atp yet?

Okay bud!!! you asked for it! It needed a good cleaning anyway. the machine not me.:laughing7: I lub my AT Pro..................but what the heck do I know.:dontknow:

What I know this has been a awful waste of good time...........but it was fun.:laughing9:

With your permission I would like to repost this picture every time I hear, "its waterproof", lol.

You asked for it...... now ya got it. Repost it all you want. Maybe somebody over at Garrett will see it and offer me a big advertizing contract or something.:laughing7:

Got my Nautilus back from the repair shop yesterday and decided to take it for a spin today even though my knee hurt like heck. It seemed to make it feel a little better just walking but I figured even if it hurt a little to get down and dig it wont no need to waste all those foot steps just walking around. I went to a place I had just beat pretty good with my AT Pro just a couple days ago and dang if I didn't find 12 bullets in less than an hour. Two nice dropped Gardners and a Georgia teat the rest were shot and dropped 3 ringers. The sad part was I dug those Gardners and the teat right next to the hole I dug that 2 ring .69 cal drop just this past Sunday. I thought I had gone over that spot pretty good but I guess the Pro didn't see them.

Now before you guys beat me to a pulp for maybe saying the Pro ain't worth diddly cause it missed a couple bullets that my Naughty found.......I love my Pro..............and I could probably go right back there tomorrow and find a couple more with my Pro that the Naughty didn't see. That's the way this stuff works

Most of the time the detector didn't miss it as much as the user missed getting the coil over the target.

We will NOT go quitely into the night!

I hate the At-Pro. Just can't put it down without picking it up again to looking for more.

Casca, I was hoping we had killed this thread with our silliness, but I see not. Can't we all just get along?

It's hard to kill off a good fishing expedition! Once it starts there is always somebody that will pull out another bait that will get the fish swimming around the boat again and ready to bite.:laughing7:

I like your handle there buddy. On just about every site I play around on Mine is olddude. I tried to use it here but it said that one was already in use. Now I know why. :headbang: Oh well...... ya can't win them all. 8-)

I don't know.......ordinarily I would agree with you but this spot is a very narrow path about 40 foot long. Actually it is part of a natural drainage ditch that drains off a main road and winds through the woods to a larger and wider natural drain. This path as I call it is at the lowest point of the drain ditch and it winds its way through some really heavy brush and briars on both sides and is only 2 maybe 3 feet wide at best all the way through it.

It's hard to miss much there because it's so narrow and as this is my path into the woods I am hunting I always start my hunt there and hunt my way in and out of the woods using this path, that is if it is not too dark when I come out. I've hunted that path many times with my AT Pro and thought I had pulled everything out of the ground but the other night I was using the smaller coil and I could get it up in the weeds a little easier and picked those two bullets about 2 feet off the edge. These bullets I found yesterday were right in the clear path right next to a hole I had dug before,

I do think one machine will find things that others don't see for some reason or another. I hunt with 2 guys, each with different machines and we all find stuff behind each other all the time and when we field hunt we hunt back and forth both in front of and behind each other all the way across a field to the other end then we move over 50' or so and go back the other way. At the end of the night we always end up with pretty much the same stuff. Every now and then somebody will find something good and we will hit that area good until we feel it is clean.

Well you caught me, I am actually trying to get folks to buy the AT Pro so they will miss stuff, like your bullets lol. The coil design of the F75 does not allow me to miss too much. Im not sure of the ATP. But the double D design is actually a blade and not cone shaped. But again practice makes perfect on your coil swing. I constantly adjust and have started using all metal mode. I go slow for the silver and gold. I have seen the handle Old Dude everywhere. My handle is play off a greek word of a roman soldier who speared Christ. The eternal mercenary. Now you know.

The plastic used for the coil must be crappy my mount lugs broke off like candy from banging around in my trunk with heavy tool boxes and crap. I fixed the coil with special materials and tactics. Pics coming soon!

Gary I reckon I saved about 130 or so. Spent 16 bucks for glue, 3/8 drill bit, toilet seat bolt kit, and some other hardware I didnt use. The brackets are 1 x 3/4 x 3/16 fiberglass angle I had layin around. I shaped the brackets clamped together as a pair on a good belt sanding table and I drilled the hole thru both clamped together for perfect symmetry. That glue let me tell you is some awesome strong stuff I was able to handle the thing after fifteen minutes set up time. I had to hack saw off the excess glue, my razor knife would hardly touch it.

Sweet. Lay it on top of the toolbox this time!
