Went out for a Quick Afterwork Hunt yesterday.
it was raining and I only had about an hour or so. I decided to hit an area that was covered by large trees to stay out of the rain.
Within the first 5 mins. I got a iffy signal about 8"...turned out to be a 1918 Wheatie!
Not 10 minutes later i got a horrible signal that had a faint high tone to it. But it was deep, So i dug...found a pulltab...and then i looked down and saw a silver edge!
it was a 1939-D Mercury Dime!
....But...I sorta nicked it with the digger
i was heading back to the car to put it up and walked by heard another faint high tone, I dug down about 6 inches and popped out a 1945-D Silver Nickle. I was totally shocked...what sucked was i had a high tone, So i was sorta thinking there was a dime or somethign in the hole.
I rechecked and it was empty
...Im confused why a War Nickle would give me a high tone that was semi repeatable. I have had it happen with Full Beaver style Pulltabs too.
Either way, i really didnt care "WHY?", I was just gald to get my first 2 Silvers for the Year!!!
