My brother, myself and my hunting buddy - had a great day today at two sites in New Jersey. First off I got to say that this website has to be the greatest inspiration to make time to do some digging. Thanks to those who run it and those who contribute all the time.
I thought it would be impossible to find really old coins and relics until I saw them posted on here.
On to the finds.
First site (early morning hunting) ( this is the same site that gave up the 1858 seated dime and the musketball last week)
Got an awesome pocket spill with 2 walking liberty halves and a mercury dime ’41, ’40 and ’43 respectively.
Two copper pins that say “F.D. Mitchell 309 Broadway New York City N.Y.” posted in what is it as well
One old button. Posted in what is it as well
One large cent – I think Braided hair but hard to tell.
Second Site (Afternoon hunting) (first time here)
After a few rounds of can slaw up comes what I believe to be a draped bust large cent. The photo doesn’t show what little detail is there, but the woman is facing right and she’s got something coming out of her hair in the back. Pittiful condition – but the oldest coin we found yet.
One copper golf Tee
And one very small musketball. Maybe too small to be a musketball.
Thanks for looking.
