I would go. Its your duty. Talk with your teacher and make arrangements. Your teacher will respect you. Its also the law. Besides it will be fun. I enjoyed it. They will pay you a few bucks. I think $15/day.
Problem is if you are on a murder case it will take longer than a couple days. It could take weeks. Dont worry about a criminal coming after you because there are 7 jurors, I believe, and he has no way of knowing how you voted. Besides you may find that he is innocent.
If you really cant make it then find an excuse to get out of it. But I dont see it as any big deal. Chances are you will not be picked anyway because there were about 40 potential jurors and they only choose 7 or 8..
Dont worry about a draft. There wont be any. They often obtain juror names from Drivers Licsense renewals.
