Big old bullet

[OldJerseyGirl]

Found this a couple of days ago and wondering what it is and maybe how old. It appears to have three rings. It is very heavy. I put a smaller size next to it for comparison.

That is a big old bullet my friend. .albeit from that "other" part of jersey..lol j/k

By the way..have you ever hunted cape May's beaches? With all those Victorian mansions around there has to be some coinage laying around.

Yes a bullet.
I believe this type of projectile is a Minie Ball probably from around the civil war era.

That would have heart real bad.

I have not hunted Down the Shore, as we say here in South Jersey. But, I am sure everyone with a detector within a hundred miles has pounded it to death. And, there are a heck of a lot of them.
