bone gouge or scraper

found this a while back and it shows much use polish and use wear
it is not pretty but if you could see it in person you might agree that it was used quite a bit
it is a gouge i think, or possibly a scraper
i have seen others that were similar
what do you think?

Very interesting the wide usage of Bone out west. Out here in PA you are lucky to find one and even luckier to find one that was used. I found a large Tooth one day and think it might have been used for a necklace. The side which i believe would have been drilled was broke. This tooth was just over 2inches and clearly had some of the root left but not all of it. It was probably closer to 3 inches. some opinions told me it was either a MT.Lion or a Bear Tooth.......Don't know..........

I agree that piece shows a good bit of polish and smoothing from use.

Looks to be sorta sharp too, possibly a fleshing tool?

Possibility it was used to soften smaller hides like deer?
