Boston Harbor Islands

Hello. New here. I go seaglassing on beaches and inlets all over. In the winter, we go to Peddocks Island and have a day of glass hunting. Do any of you know if we are allowed to MD on any of the Boston Harbor islands? TY

Hi Trish,

I believe the Boston Harbor islands are off limits to detectorists due to their status as both a national and state park. I've visited a number of the different islands in the past. I especially enjoyed Peddock's, given its history.

Back in the 1980’s I was at a civil war re-enactment encampment inside fort Warren and they let those guys dig a fire pit to cook and I eyeballed a piece of canister shot. I was told that during the war they had an uprising and canister was used to quell it.
