Finally broke my dry spell and was able to dig up 3 wheaties, a 1909 V nickle, and this 1897 Barber quarter and a 1784 Reale? I'm not sure. Can someone chime in? Never got anything like it before and broke my age record- My oldest before this was a 1787 Ct. Copper!

Thanks for looking!

Bev

So it is a reale? What denomination if that's correct?
I was frustrated with my AT Pro the last few weeks feeling like I was missing, well, everything. I was using the concentric coil with the Rattler headphones with the adapter. Buried a quarter a few inches the other day and got no reading.
So anyway today I put the double D coil on (which I can't stand) with the Garrett headphones. The reale was about 11 inches down and the other coins were anywhere from 4 to 10 inches down. I'd have to go back there with the concentric/Rattler set up to see if there is any difference. I really hope not because I'd hate to give up the Rattlers one ear piece headphones!

Just putting it out there that I'd be more than willing to trade someone my big double D (coil that is) for a 5x8 double D!

The "(the coil that is)" caveat is priceless! :laughing7: -- love the imagery! LOL ... A 1/2 reale is a bit smaller than a dime and a 1 reale is about the size of a nickel. Gorgeous shape--much better than my first reale! Great score on all those coins Bev! You must have found a great spot ... Congrats!

Best, Erik

Congrats!! It is definitely a reale. I'm no expert so I can't tell you what denomination it is. I have a 4 reale and it is about the size of a quarter.

The denomination is spelled "real" not "reale". If it was reale it would be pronounced ree-al-eh but it's a ree-al. Nice silvers!
