Hello everyone,
I was hunting in the woods behind some US military housing in Germany and found this button. I have no idea what it is, the age, etc. Any help would be awesome!

Thank you in advance,
Jake

If I only knew how to ask for permission in German it would be so much easier to get in the fields where the good stuff is :)

I will send this link to someone who might help

I think you'll find that most Germans speak some, if not fluent, English... if you try a little and make the effort, they will often just speak English for you.

Welcome to TNET
I dig all over the Bamberg Barracks, those are some nice finds you have. Pretty common for a military bases. Look up some of my finds from my profile. Another member to talk with is BAVARIA MIKE. I'm currently away from detecting on vacation in Iraq. If you re still around after AUG 09 maye we can get a hunt together. Also hit up the local bases library or enviormental office to see what was located where on the bases during WWII. Good Luck

Best thing to do for found ammo or casing (small arms)
Get a 50Cal ammo can for storage. The fired brass(no powder/bullet) I throw into metal recycling on post. DO not go off post with any ammo, Germans may freak out. All other live ammo, the ammo holding areas or local range control will have drop boxes for found ammo. Just drop the stuff in the there. Rounds with three holes in the sides were drill rounds for function checks and harmless. The disc found is 40/50s Signal Corps branch disc (US Army). The little dammits look different on the older ones.

hey all,
I'm a little concerned, when I was in, the only place you would find casings is at the range and you had to "police up all your brass ". It's highly unlikely that the US military would leave " live " ammo just laying around. Safety people would go nuts if they knew this had happened. I'm just wondering if it's older that US ordnance ( meaning WWII ). Or could have this been a older range ? Would like to see the pixs of the area.

Good Luck and Be Careful

It's most likely WWI/II because it's not only american bullets but german and france too. I've found bullets in several different places, not just on base too. Actually I've noticed that just about everywhere I go in this area I find some type of bullets/shrapnel if im in the woods. I'm pretty sure it's because about 65% of the land here was completely destroyed in WWII. HH! -Jake
