I found this button in a local park. I was using a Tesoro Cibola and it was a depth of about 4 inches. From the research that I did, I found that it was worn by Hessian soldiers in the revolutionary war.

PBK knows his stuff. He's always sent me in the right direction, quickly and thoroughly identifying many of my finds, including a sort of rare Navy button that I couldn't figure out. Heck, for that matter, he's taken a little piece of scrap metal and given me the history on it! I think your find is nice no matter what it is or where it came from. I can honestly say I have never found anything like that and it just looks sweet.

Ummm....Montana Jim, I don't recall questioning it at all....I posted the pic for you all to see. I didnt ask for any info on it. And PBK could be right, I could really care less, Either way it is not worth much, I go for coins mostly anyway and have little interest in buttons.

You are right - and that's a very fair reply to me. (read: Montana Jim has foot in mouth).

You did NOT ask for advise or identification. I was just suprised that you were reluctant to take PBK's advise to be caucious about the ID and thought I'd respond. Truth is, I jumped too fast... and you did say; "But who knows?".

I apologize for sticking my nose into it - and wish instead that I would have simply stated that I thought it was a cool find, because no matter what kind it is, I really like the buttons. I'm sorry I missed the oportunity to say "congrats" before I wrote anything else.

With hat in hand - have a great day!

Ohhh not a problem at all Jim! I did not mean to sound cocky with my response to PBK, after I read it back I noticed it sounded kind of rude, certainly not my intention. I love coming here and have to log on at least 5 times a day, So I would not want any bad feelings with anybody. HH all

Jason was this from the park, if so maybe it came off a uniform from the reenactments they have had there every year.

Oh my. (A hushed silence fell over the crowd) He didn't believe PBK??!!!

Nah, really. I'd be inclined to go with the non-Revolutionary War stance on this one. Is yours two-piece? If so, it is probably exactly like the ones I found in my mother's button jar when I was little. None of them were very old, and they were all identical to this one. In fact, I think this same button is still being made.
