Went to a new permission to today for about and hour just to see whats going on there...Its a bed and breakfast. .11acres..The inn was built in 1760s..2nd family since it was built. ..Anyway was just roaming around this field and I got this hit that said it was 6inch down. ..Dug down and it was more like 10...New it was going to be big... this is what I saw.
I could not believe it....I was over the moon
So I slowed down and about 50 feet from there I found this...thought it was the other half but I was wrong...Its the eagle. ..Now I dont know why these would be there...If they are civil war. .I know there was training camps in the area...
Any help with I'd would be great....
I do know there was fighting going on in the revolutionary war...BUT I DONT THINK SO.....Thanks in advance. ..
George. .

Congratulations on your 1832 Pattern Waist Belt Plate - Artillery Enlisted, 1832-1839 Vino! :occasion14:
More importantly though, congrats on getting permission to detect all 11acres of a 1760s property! :notworthy:

Dave

PS. First BANNER of many for you my friend!

Absolutely incredible find!! I work too much and didn't see the thread in time to vote banner, but damn it I would have! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the banner, it rejuvenated my faith in the site! You, I already know how strong the force is in you. How far from there was the sword that you did find? I would think a saber went with that belt plate rig.

Ccongrats on the banner, it looks great up top. Was is found near your mystery sword? If so, I wonder if there is some connection between the two.

Thanks oxbowbarefoot. ..yes about 2 houses away. .hmmm???

Congrats didn't say enough for the find, but let me say Congrats on making the banner. I am very glad you found this, but to give it up to the owners of the B&B says much about your character. You have guaranteed yourself more wonderful finds.

Congrats on the banner buddy! As I've said before you're a great asset to the hobby and treat people with respect. You're straight up and respectful of the properties and property owners. Your finds and this banner reinforce my belief that this world is ruled by karma as it should be.

WOW Vino spectacular find. Congrats on the banner... you deserve it. GL&HH.

Very nice and a great save!!! If you don't mind telling us, what state were they found in?

Awesome find. Even more awesome is you got both halves, 50 feet away might as well been 500. I know, I'm one of the poor saps with a half of a military buckle. I know of at least 2 or 3 more fellows in the same boat.

Somehow I missed this Vino. Finding either of those pieces individually would be awesome, but to recover both is incredible. Many congrats to you for the find and banner recognition.

George

Nice digs . Thanks for the pics

Awesome finds! Excellent condition for a dug one!
Congrats on making Banner!

That is a Waist Belt Plate, 1832 Pattern, Artillery Enlisted, 1832-1839. See page 165 of Michael O'Donnell's "American Military Belt Plates". These two pieces go together, they are not from separate buckles.

That is one heck of a find!!
Steve in PA. nailed it. 1832 enlisted Artillery. No doubt about it. And a SWEET example, congrats!!
